BERRIES AND BANANA, 11X14, OIL, SOLD

This painting is a companion piece to  one that I did a month ago which featured blueberries, strawberries and kiwi slices.

This is the original painting.  I had so much trouble getting two images in this post in the place I wanted it to be.  It was almost more time consuming than completing the paintings.  I love Blogger, but every time I think I know what I am doing, they seem to change something!
I guess what they say about "old dogs" is true!

MOUNTAIN YARD, 5X7, OIL

We have a vacation home in the mountains of North Carolina.  Our little house snuggles right up to the base of a mountain.  This is the view from the back of our house, just mountain, trees, and bushes.  It is pretty much straight up!

I don't know what just happened, I had this all set up to post on Wednesday, but even though the post shows it is Wednesday, take my word, it is only Monday night.  I am much too tired to start all over again, so if you are reading this post, please go down to the previous two posts which are also new!  Sorry for the confusion.

RADISH HALF, 7X5, ,SOLD

Well, you didn't really think I was finished with the half fruits and veggies, did you?  I had to try a half radish for my little series.  There are soooo many more options available, and I am really enjoying them right now.

SWAN REFLECTION, 6X8, OIL, SOLD

I try to go for a walk several times a week and one of my favorite routes takes me pass a pond with a couple of swans.  They have been there for years and suddenly last month, they disappeared!  I really miss seeing them and have an active imagination.  I try to think they have gone on to a bigger and better pond, but I keep seeing images of bobcats.  So, this is a little tribute to my swan buddies, may you swim in peace.

My work has been showcased by Victoria at Paintslinging.  Victoria likes to showcase artists and craftsmen's products on her exciting blog.  I hope you will stop by for a visit, I am sure you will enjoy it.

PINEAPPLE HALF, 5X7, OIL

Here we have another in my series of fruit halves.  I kind of like this one, it looks rather jaunty to me.  Can a pineapple do that?  I don't know why I feel this way, but I think it has a little attitude!

BERRIES IN SUGAR BOWL, 5X7 OIL

This is the companion piece to the strawberries in creamer that I posted the day before yesterday.  This is also from a few years ago.

Several of my paint buddies have been involved in a cool project called "Transformations".  Cindy Michaud was the creator of this undertaking which paired 12 painters with 12 poets from around the state.  The opening was last weekend, and a wild success.  Another of my friends, Carmen Beecher has posted her painting and poem on her blog.  It is unique and well done and I hope you will visit her blog here.  I am sure you will enjoy it.

PARISIAN SKYLINE,6X8, OIL, SOLD

April is the perfect time to be in Paris.  Don't you wish you were there?  I do!  Everyone has seen the Eiffel Tower a million times, but when I saw it in person I was amazed at the scope of it.  It seems to always be on the horizon and is massive in size.  I was hoping to show that in this painting. I thought it would be fun to show a different view than we normally see of this very impressive structure.

BERRIES IN CREAMER, 5X7 OIL

This is an old painting that I found in my studio closet last week.  I painted this a few years ago and at the time I was very happy with the results.  Not so much now.  The nice things about old paintings is that you can see the road you are traveling.  This one will always have a little warm spot in my heart.  Tomorrow I will post the companion piece.

OTTER,6X8, OIL, SOLD

Don't you think otters are just the cutest things on earth?  I love the way they swim on their backs.  The only thing I don't love is when they catch the baby ducks and chow down...but that is nature!

I have been out of town the last week or so.  I want to thank everyone who was so kind to review my blog each day and especially those of you who left such nice comments.  I am really behind the eight ball at the moment with lots of projects to check off the list, so I probably won't get around to replying to each one of you individually, but I want you to know how important you are to me.  I take great pride in your comments and appreciate all the specifics you mention.  It helps me have insight into how my work appears to others.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I hope to get back to my daily browsing of your sites soon.

ARTICHOKE, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

I have not had the courage to try half an artichoke, but here is a whole one.  I did cut this baby in half and photo it, so I have everything in place in case I ever get crazy enough to try!

ACORN SQUASH, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

I really liked this composition, the way the squash is kind of leaning to the right and casting the long shadow on the left.  Sunlight is a beautiful thing!  I must admit taking on the innards of a squash is not one of my favorite duties.  I tried to leave a lot to the imagination.

LAZY PINK PEAR,5X7, OIL

Really, I didn't push the color too much here.  This red pear really did give off a pinky, purplish glow.  And that coral streak was there too, if I squinted a little.  It must have had something to do with the sunlight behind.

SOUTHERN VIEW FROM COCOA BEACH PIER, OIL, 5X7

If you look south, from the Cocoa Beach Pier, which is one of my favorite spots, this is what you see. Of course, I deleted about 2,000 people. I guess I should have put at least 60 or so of them in, but when I first started going to Cocoa Beach, it was oftem an empty beach you found,  That is how I still think of it.

STAR FRUIT WITH BLUEBERRIES, 5X7, OIL

Blueberries, star fruit, and a slice of strawberry, in cool winter light.  Isn't it neat that fruit actually grows in a star shape?  I don't particularly like to eat it..but I do like to slice it and arrange it on a plate.  Especially when there are shadows involved!

GUITAR PRACTICE, 6X8, OIL SOLD

I painted a similar scene a few months ago.  This is my granddaughter entertaining herself while on vacation  in our home in western North Carolina.  The first one I painted turned up missing right after a visit from her mother, so I decided to try it again.

PLUM HALF, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

I really enjoyed this one.  I like a lot of texture in my paintings so I have plenty of areas of thick paint on this one.  I hope I didn't overdue it.  I also have areas of paint so thin, the black gesso shows through.  The contrast is what excites me.

PEAR HALF, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

You had to know it would happen, right??  Sooner or later, I had to post a half pear.  I am having so much fun painting this series of 1/2 a fruit or vegetable (mostly fruit) that I just cannot stop right now.  I promise to move on to something else soon, but not too soon.
