Figurative Daily Painting, "Young and in Love" 8x6" SOLD

Paris is the city of lovers.  Years ago, I wondered why it was designated as such.  Now that I have been there several times, and to many other cities, like London, Rome, San Francisco, New York, Tokyo and more, I realized that Paris is the only place that young lovers freely display their feelings for each other in public.

They are everywhere....in the parks, walking the streets, viewing museums, and enjoying cafe's.  They kiss, they cuddle, they hug. they are in their own little world where only two exist.

Is that also why Frenchmen have the reputation of being so romantic?  Which leads me to wonder...are Frenchmen romantic in other locations?  Or, are ALL Men romantic in FRANCE?  I welcome your discussion!  :-)

On another note.....The online magazine Vintage Indie asked to do a little interview with me.  You may enjoy reading it, just click on the link.

LAVA FLOW 6x6"

I have been working on a new "to me" technique.

Although it will never replace my representative painting, I find it interesting and exciting and a little like play time.......a nice change of pace.

Daily Painting, "Sand Crab Stand Off" 6x8" SOLD

This little guy was not going to run, but stand his ground and fight!  I took a quick photo and left him alone.

SOLD

I had to count to make sure I had the same number of legs on both sides.......and I do as two of them are not easy to see

If possible, I like to have a little connection between the art and it's surrounding items.

Here in Florida, it is beach weather again.  Time for another beachy photo shoot!

BIG SISTER, 8x6" Oil S0LD

As so often happens in life, this little girl appears to have the responsibility of her little brother, even though she appears to be very young herself.

sold

Ooops!  I think I was guilty of doing that myself.......so sorry Shelly!

She appears to be doing a good job of steering her little brother around and looks ever so charming in her red coat and boots.

A big thanks to Genie, from Paris and Beyond blog who was kind enough to share her reference image with me.

Floral Still Life, "The Beauty of Life" 8x6"

Time for another of my small floral still life paintings.  The title of the painting is a reminder that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

$96 + 10

The flowers loosely represented are hydrangea, goldenrod and Queen Ann's Lace.  To many the goldenrod and Queen Ann's lace are weeds.  To me, they were just the thing to brighten up my little display of hydrangea blossoms.

Here's hoping you have a weekend full of unexpected beauty and joy.

Abstract Triptych, "Confetti" 5x15" Oil SOLD

Today, I am posting something new to me.....my first abstract triptych!  I really enjoyed working on this and hope to do more in the future.

I have not quite figured out how to photograph these yet...something I need to work on!

It is on three 5x5" gallery wrap canvases with the sides painted black.  Each piece is signed on the side.

It works in both a vertical or horizontal composition.

Here is a vertical view.

Seascape, "California Bliss", 6x12" SOLD

It always amazes me how different the Atlantic is from the Pacific.  Here, on the east coast, we have mornings when the ocean looks like a big lake, hardly a ripple breaks the surface.

SOLD
I don't have as much experience with the west coast, but it appears to be much more intense.  I have only been to the Pacific in northern California, where it is a deep, beautiful blue, unlike the semi-tropical waters we have in Florida, which can be a bright turquoise.

The reference image for this painting came from Shelly Smart's blog, A Year at the Beach.  She is not posting it anymore, but it remains a fascinating journal.  She posted images of her beach every day for a year.  Thank you Shelly, for sharing your images with me.

Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Flower Painting, Floral Still Life "Hydrangea and Goldenrod" 8x6" SOLD

Another of my "chunky" floral still life.  The idea on these is to keep detail to a minimum with color, brushstrokes and shape catching you eye.

SOLD

I quickly sketched in very basic shapes, not being fussy but trying to capture enough of the flower shape to be recognizable.  I massed in dark under colors and then worked a little with local color.  Of course, I  pumped it up.

I worked with big strokes and lots of paint.

Thank you for viewing my art today.
