Dolphin Painting, Wildlife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Original Oil, SOLD

This was a fun painting for me.  Maybe it's the subject matter, but I smiled the whole time.

SOLD
Last summer, we spent a few days in Key Largo, with our grandson.  The one thing he was really looking forward to was swimming with the dolphins.  He loved every minute of it and later told me he had met a life long goal by doing so.  (He was 13).

While I was watching, I snapped this shot of one of the dolphins, and have had it on my list of subjects to paint for months.

Sometimes, many times, I find myself putting off certain subjects, afraid that I am not accomplished enough to do them justice.  Such was the case here.

I am happy I finally gave it a try, and was pleased with the results.  I will have to push myself more in the future, when I find myself backing off a subject that I am unfamiliar with.

Hope you have a great day!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Paintings by Carol Schiff

I wanted to do a short post, and show you my ad on Folt Bolt.  What is Folt Bolt you ask?  Basically an online advertising agency out of Australia.  I found them on Facebook  and decided to give them a try.  I think it was worth it as it received over 600 likes.

I also wanted to show you this photo of a client's husband receiving his birthday present.

I love when a client takes the time to express how pleased they are with their new painting.  The little girl, who is the subject of the painting, looks pretty happy too.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Off on a New Journey!

Several years ago, I joined forces with a company that manufactures and sells giclee prints on wood panels.  It turned out to be a good move for me, and I was very disappointed when suddenly, the company was sold.  The new owners went in another direction and things were looking gloomy for me.

But now, after 8 months of work, we are finally moving forward again.  They recently sent me images of some of my new works on their products.  Not only, wood panel giclee's, but also pillows, shower curtains, totes and much more.

I was very pleased with the results, and want to show some of them to you.  Hopefully, you will soon find them on the shelves of a department store near you.

Angels of Parade Pillow

Burnt Sky Pillow

Darkness Shower Curtain

Fishy School Shower Curtain

Wakes Tote

Moon Over Miami On Wood Plank
Summer Heat Pillow

Sky Music on Wood Plank
I am delighted with the results!!

Have a Happy Day!

Pelican Painting, Wildlife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 9x12" Original Art, SOLD

We spent a lovely afternoon at Pt Canaveral recently.  Of course, we were surrounded by birds.

I was inspired by this pelican, hunkered down on a piling.

SOLD
I realized that many of the paintings, that give me the most joy, are birds.  I am committed to painting more of them.

The biggest block is getting good photos to work from.

I want to share some of my other photos from this trip to Pt. Canaveral.

As you can see, it was a wonderful day.  Grandson came along, making it even more special!

Spring Abstract Painting, Textured Art, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Abstract

I enjoy playing around with color, trying to evoke emotion, simply with color.

purchase here

Since spring is just around the corner (thankfully), I named this "April Muse".

Turns out, it is actually a 3-D painting, as in places the paint stands out .5" from the canvas.

Hope you enjoy your day!

I found this useful oil paint guide and wanted to share it with you.

Wildlife Painting, Snowy Egret Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Original Painting SOLD

We are very lucky to live close to one of the best "birding" areas in the US.  Viera Wetlands, here in Brevard County is well knowing in "birding circles" and each year, thousands of birders descend on us.

SOLD

I find it impossible to get accurate colors on a painting that has a variety of blues.  The image above is a scan of the actual painting, with very accurate color.

After taking 5-6 photos, in different lighting, this is the best I could do with a camera.  As you can see, the colors are harsh and inaccurate.  This image has been photo shopped to the best of my abilities.

Why do I care about photos?  Why not just scan them?

Much of my work is licensed and the scan does not make a large enough file for me to send to my licensee. For that reason, I continue to try to find a way to take a decent photo!  If any of you have an answer for me, I would appreciate the help!

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Beach Oil Painting, Florida Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting,SOLD, 6x8" Tropical Painting

I recently returned home from four wonderful days on Amelia Island, Florida.  The ocean is often very calm there....not a good surfing place.  One evening we stood on the beach and watched dusk descend over the water.

SOLD, but contact me to order a giclee print on canvas.
It was the first time I have been inspired to do a landscape in quite awhile.  I felt very relaxed, just painting this peaceful scene.  Hope you like it!

Have a great day!

White Rose Painting, 8x10x1.5" Flower Still Life, Flower Painting, Floral Painting, SOLD

Birthday Flowers!!

SOLD
Way back in December, my son and his wife sent me some beautiful flowers for my birthday.  The first thing I did was photograph them.  Then I forgot about the photos!

I finally found them last week, and decided to try my hand at one.  I am very intimidated  by flowers.  They seem so complex and I rarely meet that sweet spot between too little or too much detail.  I am not so sure about this one, but I do like the colors.

Try, try and try again!
