I painted this a few years ago, while on a winter vacation in Florida. The scene seems to bring to life my impression of "Old Florida". Before Mickey, back when the state was more "Down Upon the Suwannee River" and glass bottom boats.
It was painted plein air, on the banks of the Indian River, which is part of Florida's intra-coastal waterway.

When I think of Florida, with it's blazing hot sun and coastline, this is what I see and feel.
