Abstract Sunrise Painting, Palette Knife Abstract, "Intracoastal Sunrise" by Carol Schiff, 14x18x1.5" Oil SOLD

I painted this abstract sunrise painting after spending the night on the boat, anchored at Mosquito Lagoon.  It was a hot night with no power on the boat and mosquito's everywhere!  We started out the next morning in the dark and soon saw this gorgeous sunrise.

I painted this after I returned home with brush and palette knife.

Vegetable Still Life, Red Pepper Painting, "Big Red" by Carol Schiff, 20x24x1.5" Oil

It has been some time since I have painted a vegetable still life, so I decided to try one this week.  In the past I painted every fruit and vegetable you could imagine, but they were small pieces, usually 6x8" or smaller.

Purchase here
879. + shipping
This one is actually 20x24" and painted with a combination of palette knife and brush.  You will notice with this next image below, that the the background is actually more gray green than the blue shade above.  I must have taken 20 photos of this, trying to get the colors correct, but in the end I had to choose between the bluish background and the front end of the pepper turning a garish orange mustard hue. Yuck!  At any rate, the photo below seems quite accurate in both places.

Thank you for viewing my blog today.  I hope you enjoy this vegetable still life painting.  Give it a pin!

Still Life Teapot, Daily Painting, "Antique French Teapot" by Carol Schiff, 16x16x1.5" Oil

This is not a new painting, but it is my favorite still life teapot painting.  It is a antique French teapot that I found on Etsy.

Purchase here
450 + shipping

The  owner of the Etsy site, Dandeliondecor gave me permission to use her image.  The teapot is no longer available but I am happy to have this painting.

I was attracted by the wavy lines, the beautiful china roses and the sweet curvy handle.  The painting is soft and subtle, but it catches my eye every day as I walk by it.  Yes, one of the perks of being an artist, is lots or original art on your walls.
Several years ago I did lots of still life teapots and flowers and food items.  I am getting in the mood to return to these subjects.

I hope you enjoy this daily painting today and I hope you will pin it.

Pelican Painting, Daily Painting, "King of the Flock" by Carol Schiff, 9x12x1.5" Oil

I was visiting Cocoa Beach pier when I spied this beautiful creature and knew immediately I would soon be working on a pelican painting.

Purchase here
199 + Shipping

He must have been conditioned to getting lots of attention as he tried his best to ignore me, especially after he realized I didn't have any fish.  Lots of people fish off the pier and I am sure he grabs his share of fish from those who don't protect their catch.

I named him "Jake".  I once knew a Jake with a very large mouth (if you know what I mean).

Thanks for viewing my pelican painting today! I hope you will pin it.

Figurative Oil Painting, African American Art, "Market Day" by Carol Schiff, 27x54"

This figurative oil painting depicts a young woman, in a tropical location, shopping at an outdoor market.

purchase here

I wanted to paint a very large, almost life-size, figurative painting.  I stretched the canvas myself as the finished piece is 27x54".

Although it doesn't really show in this image, I did glaze, after glaze, after glaze on the head to get the deep, rich, hues.

This figurative oil painting is quite different from the daily paintings you usually view here.  It's always good to stretch yourself.  My goal this year is to paint larger pieces on a regular basis.

Flower Painting, Daily Painting, "Peony and Pitcher" by Carol Schiff, 8x6" Oil SOLD

It has been a long, cold winter and I was ready for a little escape. A flower painting seemed like just the thing!

I found an image of peonies from my garden and started painting.  I used all my favorite colors of pinks, purples, corals and blues.  The more I painted, the happier I felt.

Small Landscape Painting, "Intracoastal Island" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil, SOLD

This small landscape painting depicts a scene I see every day.  Florida's intracoastal waterway is dotted with small uninhabited islands.

Purchase here
SOLD

During warmer months, the islands are often gathering places for camping and fishing trips or simply a fun boating trip for a family outing.  Even the youngest kids enjoy the sandy beaches and calm, shallow waters and many picnics and happy days occur there.

I painted the scene with a palette knife in the style I like to call "color weaving" which gives it a nice textured look.  I particularly like a small landscape painting in a simple black frame which, I feel, gives a sense of elegance.  I love when you pin my work!

Cat Painting, "Sleeping Kitty" by Carol Schiff, 6x12x.75" Oil SOLD

This is not your typical cat painting.  This kitty was so tired, she was sleeping on steps, in the middle of a tourist attraction.  People climbing up and down around her, trying to avoid her stretched out body and to not step on her tail.  Nothing bothered her.

SOLD
Apparently, Louisiana cats are tough

The painting is on 6x12x.75" stretched canvas, painted with texture using both knife and brush.

Thank you for reading my blog today and I hope you like my little cat painting.
