I've had an exhausting two months.  We left for our 2nd home in North Carolina the end of August, and returned home to Florida Nov.1  I had 12 hours at home, before I left for 5 wonderful days in a workshop with the fabulous painter, Elio Camacho.  Pure Heaven!

Elio is a charming and knowledgeable instructor and gives all his students an incredible amount of information and attention.  I am looking forward to his next series of Florida workshops in the spring.

Daily Painting, Small Acrylic Seascape, 6x8" Acrylic, SOLD

I have been working on a secret project that requires me to paint in acrylics.  To ready myself, I tried a few small acrylic paintings.  This is my first attempt.

SOLD
I am not sure how I feel about acrylics at this point.  I think I will be happy to get back to my oils, but like anything else, practice makes perfect.  There must be many techniques I am unaware of.  Maybe by the time I finish my project, I will have discovered some of them.

Change can be a good thing, but not always enjoyable.

Impressionist Daily Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Fairy House", 6x8" House Painting, SOLD

This small oil painting was a surprise to me.  I wanted to paint a house, but this is not what I had in mind.

SOLD
I know all of us artists browse the internet, looking for artist's works that we enjoy, and trying to learn from others.  That is why you are here, reading this post.

Waclaw Jagielski

I am no different.  I recently found this image on facebook, from an artist that I admire.  I was very inspired by this work and decided to try a house painting of my own.  As you can see, they are very different works.

The moral of this story is ...........don't be afraid to be inspired by others and always stretch your art.  You never know when you will come away frustrated or find new confidence in your techniques.  My painting is not what I was looking for, but, I am happy with it and I feel it pushed my skills in new ways.

Thank you for reading my blog today...now, go get inspired!

Flower Window Box Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Floral, SOLD

I have always loved flower window boxes, but for some reason, I have never owned one.  Maybe that is why I have this urge to paint a few.

This is the second one I have painted recently....maybe a series is in the works.

As I write this, it is a beautiful fall morning in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. Here is the view out my window.

The dogwoods have little red berries now.

It's begining to look a lot like autumn!

This painting was a real experiment for me.  I wanted to paint a sunset, wildlife and marsh, but could not find a reference image  that I liked.

Then I remebered a workshop I took, many years ago from Fritz vanEeden.  Fritz is an artist of international aclaim.  Among his many talents is his ability to paint images that he pulled from his mind's eye.

I gave it a try!

detail

I started with the direction of the sky and clouds and then laid in the  wetlands below.

I have to admit, I did use a photo reference for the heron.  I just could not visualize all those body parts!

All in all, I was happy the day's efforts, and hopefully, this technique will come in handy in the future.

Each lamp is made of vintage and new (mostly vintage) teacups and teapots.  I track them down, where ever I go.

I have so much fun finding the perfect elements for each lamp. When I am happy with the just the right cups and saucers and teapot , I turn it over to my hubby who carefully drills holes in each piece and wires the lamp with brand new electrical parts.  He spent weeks perfecting the electrical components design for safety and durability.

The shades and bulbs do not come with the lamps due to shipping considerations.

Of course, each one we finish becomes my favorite.  I want to keep them all, but I promised hubby that would not happen.

This would be such a unique gift for that very special person on your gift list (or you).

Each lamp is one of a kind.  If you see one that is perfect for you, buy it now, because when it's gone, it's gone forever.

We are happy to make a special lamp for you.  Maybe you have some of grandmother's china, or your wedding china, that is closed away in a closet.  How nice it would be to see it sitting out every day.  Send me a comment if you are interested in a very special "memory lamp" just for you.
