ARTICHOKES OF CAMPO DI FIORI, 16X20, OIL, SOLD

A few years ago I spent some time in Rome in the beautiful and ancient Campo di Fiori piazza.  One morning we came to the square and found it had been turned into a farmer's market over night.  This was a real farmer's market, with real farmers and produce so fresh the leaves had not had time to wilt. My camera and I were very happy and I have painted a few scenes from there.

I inserted Italian words into the painting to help me capture the flavor and excitement of the day.

Oh! They are lovely. I want them; to steam and eat - to look at. Like a pastel cousin of the eggplant; like a flower of food. excellent, excellent painting, Carol. thanks for sharing it.

Carol I live in Milan , and there are farmer's market's somewhere every day, I never thought about getting inspiration from the market, but everything really depends on the eye that sees, you did such a great painting of a typical italian everyday scene. Just like "Morning Commute" which i really like, too.

Artichokes make a delightful subject for study... delicious, too! The markets are fabulous... I have been to Campo di Fiori but missed the farmer's market - rats! Glad that you took many photos... Beautiful painting in your lovely style!

J'ai aimé peindre les artichauts...
Très belle composition... j'aime les ambiances des marchés... Vos couleurs sont sublime et la lumière qui vient effleurer les légumes rend votre toile pleine de vie.
