Coastal Wall Decor, Beach House Painting, Florida Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on Canvas Panel

I recently returned to Florida after three years living in the  Asheville area.  Since I am back in Florida my tropical self has come out of hiding.

We are living further south than we did in the past, and it is much more tropical here.  My painting is trying to adjust to the new landscapes.

Enjoy!

Coastal Home Decor, Tropical Landscape Art, Palette Knife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Textured Art, 9x12", Daily Painting

Another beautiful day in sunny Florida!

Purchase Here

Well, not so sunny, actually pretty cloudy, but still beautiful, and yes it is Florida.

Tropical Landscape Painting, Coastal Wall Decor, Palm Trees on the Shoreline, Tropical Giclee Print On Canvas

You would think that with everyone staying at home , with our activities curtailed, that time would drag.  I find it to be just the opposite.

Purchase here

Of course I did sell a house and buy another house and move 700 miles away and have contractors in my house most days for months.

So, time flew for me, and for most of the year, I had no time or inclination to paint.  Finally, I am back in the studio!

It is very reassuring for me to get back to normal activity, in at least one aspect of my life.

I hope your finding a little silver lining in your life too.

Abstract Landscape Painting, Original Wall Decor, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Palette Knife Oil Painting, Sunset Art, Textured Art, 9x12"

Some days I just want to smush paint around.  I can almost understand Vincent eating it.  So creamy, so smooth, so beautiful!

When I feel that way, I always get out my palette knife and just enjoy.  Remember that feeling you had as a kid in kindergarten?

Right away my shoulders relax.

Enjoy the day!

Better Days Ahead, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, SOLD

Will this virus never go away? Days sometimes feel dreary.  I feel that way too, and decided it was the perfect time to paint something bright and cheery.

Just a little reminder of summer and happier days ahead!

Morning at the Beach, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, SOLD

I have been spending so much time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, my trips to the beaches have suffered.  Time to roll out of bed before the sun, grab a cup of coffee and go for a short drive to the sea.

SOLD
Just as I arrive, the sun starts it's slow climb above the horizon.  I have forgotten how peaceful and beautiful it is on the beach at this time of day.  Way down the beach, I can see a fisherman, but other than him we are alone with the birds who are looking for breakfast.

It is so enjoyable here, cool, serene.....I feel refreshed and ready to start my day.

Do you have a happy place too?

This painting was commissioned by a client who saw a similar work on my Etsy site.  The piece she wanted was already sold.  I was happy to do a similar painting in the size she desired.

I am overstocked on these daily paintings, so I have them on sale on my Etsy site this week.  I am offering a $15.00 rebate on any 5x7 or 6x8 painting sold.  Just write ETSY SALE on your order and I will credit your PayPal or Credit Card account.

Thank you for reading my blog today.

The French Teapot, Still Life Painting, 12x12" Oil on Canvas

This is not a new painting, but it is my favorite still life teapot painting.  It is a antique French teapot that I found on Etsy.

Purchase here
450 + shipping

The  owner of the Etsy site, Dandeliondecor gave me permission to use her image.  The teapot is no longer available but I am happy to have this painting.

I was attracted by the wavy lines, the beautiful china roses and the sweet curvy handle.  The painting is soft and subtle, but it catches my eye every day as I walk by it.  Yes, one of the perks of being an artist, is lots or original art on your walls.
Several years ago I did lots of still life teapots and flowers and food items.  I am getting in the mood to return to these subjects.

I hope you enjoy this daily painting today and I hope you will pin it.

Telephone Still Life Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Yesterday", SOLD

Way back last year, I received an e-mail from young boy in Cleveland who was working on an art project.  His assignment was to interview an artist and do a powerpoint presentation.  He asked me a few general questions about my art.  This phone painting is what interested him.

8x10" oil
SOLD
I am sure many of you receive the same type of requests.  I have had several, from young students.  I always reply, trying to  answer their inquiries, without doing ALL the work for their report.  Occasionally, I will get a "thank you" in return, often nothing.

This young boy from Cleveland, Jake, is not the usual.  We had several exchanges.  He was always extremely polite , and always promised to send me reports.  And he did!  He sent me an outline of his presentation, then I got a video of him giving it.  My favorite question from his audience was "is she still alive?", which he answered with a resounding "yes"...Whew!

My children and grandchildren were excited and thrilled to see all this activity about me in Cleveland.

After a few weeks, he sent me his grade (he aced it) on the project, and I though we were through.  But no....  He also has to do a painting that emulates my work.

Jake's painting
This is my second update on his painting in progress.  Note the picture of my phone, there on the table.

And here  is the finished piece!  Didn't he do well!!?!!

I am thrilled, each time I hear from him.  This has been such an  exciting experience for me and hopefully for him too.  I now understand why people choose to teach, and, what a wonderful teacher he has.  He or she has set him on a road that will stay with him for life. What a fantastic project for a young mind.   Bravo!!

So, for me, painting has been so much more than just painting.  Today, I have a new energy and desire to get back to the easel....how lucky am I?  Thank you Jake!
