ONE ON THE HOOK

Last week I posted a 5x7 painting of this gentleman. I liked it enough to try it again in a larger (11x14) format. This time I added his little grandson.

Although I live on the coast, I have not done many seascapes. It was a learning experience, creating all the blues/greens/purples that were in the water.

I have a new camera and I am having problems with photographing my paintings. Notice the vertical lines visible on this posting and the one below. Does anyone out there know what the problem is? Trust me, the lines are not on the paintings and changing the resolution does not seem to help. Also, it is not consistant. The next photo I take may be just fine. Help!

Please leave a comment if you are interested in purchasing this painting

Hi Carol,

Love the painting, it just is Summertime!

As for the lines, those are "moire" and I forget why they occur, but you may want to try photographing your pictures in natural light. Because I believe moire occurs with similar wave lengths. I may be wrong...

hi carol,
nice looking blog!
my bet is it is a moire between the pattern of your canvas weave and the resolution of the blog-size pictures. are you taking these at hi res?
if not you should be, and then maybe a slight gaussian blur in photoshop if you can, then when you make it smaller for the blog it should be gone.
if that's not it, write me and i'll help you figure it out!

Derek,Thanks for the information. I think it is a resolution problem and will be experimenting with my photographs. Good to hear from you.

Great sea painting but you sure have them fishing in some rough water. He is going to lose that grandson.

Thanks for your visit and lovely comment. Not least because it led me here. I read your profile and I think I have found a soulmate....could be me talking!
Love the sea in this one. Having done a similar painting recently, I know how hard it is. But this is fabulous!
