PEONY, 11X14, OIL SOLD

Still trying to paint flowers. This one was more difficult for me. I just could not achieve the vibrant hues I wanted!

Even through the thumbnail, I could tell this was my favorite bloom the peony. I love it. Subtle is good over vibrant sometimes.

I like the composition, that is the most difficult things to do with flowers. But this one succeeds. It is lovely. I like the background colours too.

It's tough to keep flowers vibrant and translucent and still give them shape. You've done a good job. I like the interesting vantage point of the flower up high, and seeing the landscape beyond.
