SWIMMING HOLE, 8X10, OIL, SOLD

Just down the road from our vacation home in North Carolina is this really nice campground. The guests there always have so much fun with campfires, puppet shows, swimming, singing, etc. It always reminds me of a scene from the 50"s when life was not so complex.

My paint group, Pieces of Eight, had a week long retreat at my home this summer, and one day we were painting a 200 year old cabin down the road. A very lovely lady from South Carolina stopped to say hello and one thing led to another. She loved the cabin and arrangements were made for her and her sisters to come to my home the next day for an impromptu "wet canvas" exhibition. Several paintings found new homes that morning, and this was one of them. It seems the family spent many years visiting the area and staying in the campgrounds before building homes there. They had many warm memories of their time camping.

If you want a special treat, check out artist Linny D Vine. Her artwork is delightful, and I am pretty sure she is too. Viewing her work is like a walk through the magical forest, a trip to Disneyland, and cotton candy, all rolled into one. You won't be sorry!

THE POINT, ABSTRACT, OIL, 5X7 - SOLD

A landscape from our area. It is a point of land reaching out into the inter coastal. I think it is kind of cool, the values and shapes are what appeal to me.
Check out Douglas Auld's blog, he mentioned me today. Thanks, Douglas!

THE IRENE, 8X10, OIL

When we were in the mountains of North Carolina last month, we spied this cute little boat tied up at the Alarka boat ramp. I don't know much about boats and have no idea what the proper name for this type of boat would be, but I can tell you it sparkled like new. It was named Irene which we all loved, because my 14 year old granddaughter, Courtney Irene, was with us.

Purchase here.

YOU GUESSED IT!, 5X7, ABSTRACT, OIL,SOLD

Yes, it's another marsh scene. I really am begining to enjoy these abstracts. Have I convinced anyone else to give it a try? It really is very freeing and for me, I nice change of pace from my usual struggles. Not that I would want to do only this, but, when I am able to turn one out that isfresh and has pleasing colors and values it seems to help me get ready to do my "real" paintings.

ANOTHER ABSTRACT, 5X7, OIL,SOLD

This one was painted over black gesso to give a more serious mood. The mass of off while (pink) represents my feeling of anger and the white dot is my hope for peace and contentment. Nope, it's a landscape of a lake in NC with trees and reflections. Gotcha!

SMOKING MOUNTAINS, 3X8, OIL,SOLD

It is absolutely fascinating to wake up in the North Carolina mountains. They look different every day. The smoke changes by the minute and then just burns away. This must be what the song was talking about. Nothing could be finer...............
