AND THEY JUST KEEP ROLLING ON, AND ON, AND ON, OIL, 6X8, SOLD

For me, it is almost as relaxing to paint the ocean as it is to just sit there and enjoy it.  The repeating waves are just the most calming, hypnotic thing I can think of.  Add in the sea birds calling and the roar of the waves and my shoulders unclench and my eyes start to droop in minutes.  What is your magic place that makes the world go away?

Right now my favorite place to be is relaxing in my back yard with the trees and birds all around. I grew up at the ocean in the Cape Cod, MA area and spent endless days at the beach about 100 ft. down the road. I remember those seagulls well...................
Great painting!

the thickness of the white foam and the variety of brushstrokes creates very nice motion, very nice

You captured the waves beautifully. The ocean is my "home." I lived on a sailboat for two years and have a home on the ocean. I can't imagine life outside of smelling the salt air and hearing the surf. It's intoxicating!

Oh, and I wouldn't want to leave right away either.

Love the motion in this painting... just lovely!

I love your wave paintings. They are calming to look at...exactly how you describe the experience of being there. If I close my eyes....I'm not in this cold climate but sipping a coffee on the beach.
I laughed at your comment on my post re plein air...I think I laughed out loud! Plein air can have its moments, but not in these conditions.
My magic place is walking the dog on the trails next to our town.
With my new computer, posting and commenting will be a breeze. Before, I had to click on the page, make a coffee, start to drink it, and then maybe the blog would be there. Time to get back on track.

I love the calming beat of waves breaking at the beach, and this painting reminds me of all the times I look into the ocean in hope of seeing a whale, once I even did!
