Every once in a while I have to try something abstract. This one is all about texture and the red under painting.
I mixed sand from the beach into the gesso.
It's always fun to experiment, especially when I start to take my painting a little too seriously.

There was a time when I would see an abstract painting and think "I could do that". Then I tried and realized - I cannot. So much harder than it looks (like tennis), well probably not for someone with your talent but it is for someone without it (like me).
