This is my third time painting this scene and each painting is very different than the others. My latest effort is here:

Painted with a palette knife and a technique I have developed which i like to call Color Weaving. It gives lots of texture to the painting.

The second effort was several years ago, a small 5x7" in a vaguely abstract style.
The first time I painted this bird was many years ago in pastel....................

It is very interesting to see which direction you painting goes over the years. I recently read about a man who took a photo of his daughter every week of her life. Now he has a unique record. I think I will take a cue from him and paint this again in a few years.

This is beautiful, Carol..! Wonderful texture with the palette knife... very painterly and of course, I LOVE the pastel painting you did several years ago!
SO impressive!!!
so interesting to see how differently each one is done. the most recent is my favorite although, i think they are all wonderful.
Three awesome paintings, all similar but still very different...and obviously very successful !
Neat to see the differences and all are great - love the palette knife work - but I really like the middle one too. it has a contemporary feel to it which reminds me of the wonderful florals you do.
Beautiful heron pieces Carol!
It's amazing how they each have a unique feel to them but your style is evident in each one! Each of them are wonderfully done.
Artists grow so fast but sometimes it's hard to see until you compare work from previous years.
