Rose Painting, Floral Still Life, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting 8x8x1.5" Oil SOLD

Yes, yes, yes......I am still painting flowers.  I have been on quite a flower jag lately.

I was pleased with this one.

SOLD

Roses have always been difficult for me.  This time I tried to channel Elio.  I was determined not to describe each petal,  I did my best to remember the softness and translucency of a rose petal.  I wanted to pop the colors, but, not too much.  Finally, I made myself stop!

Yes, I like this one.....and I hope you do too.

Floral Still Life Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Flower Painting

I had an empty wall in my house.....unheard of for an artist!!  After much deliberation, I decided I wanted to hang a couple of florals I painted a few months ago.

Dreaming of Dogwood

I wanted to inspire myself to try more of this style, very loose, and painted with lots of transparent colors and lots of medium.

Daffodil Days

So far, I have had a problem trying to dupicate the look!!!

A further complication.....the original paintings are 6x8" and I needed  larger pieces for my wall.

That was a problem I could solve.  I ordered giclee prints on canvas, increasing the size of the prints.  I have to say they came out wonderful.  I even manipulated the color slightly on the dogwood to work better in my room.  Thankfully, I was able to take high resolution images of both paintings, allowing them to be printed in the size I desired without losing detail in the  image.

Now, I just have to keep practicing until I am able to duplicate my technique.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Blue and Green Paintings, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

The past few weeks have been full of days on the couch and doctor visits.   As a result, I have fallen behind on my daily art projects.

I thought this would be a perfect time to review a few on my favorites from over the years.

To help narrow it down, I selected paintings that feature blue and green hues.

All of these works are available, either as original or giclee print on canvas at my Etsy site,

Thank you so much for viewing my art today.
Hopefully, I will be posting new work in the next few days.

Teacup Lamps and Dinnerplate Clocks, unique lamps and clocks

As much as I love to paint, I also have a little side hobby I enjoy.  My son and daughter-in-law have joined me in a little side business, making lamps and wall clocks from vintage dinnerware.

Purchase here
For me, the attraction is the thrill of the hunt.  I visit estate sales and vintage stores, looking for the perfect pieces of vintage dinnerware.

My daughter in law assembles the pieces into beautiful lamps.  My son drills out the assembled pieces and adds brand new electrical components.

Viola! a  fun and unique lamp.  The lamp travels back to my house for photography and storage until that special person purchases it.  Then I wrap it carefully in bubble wrap and stryofoam to ship to your home.

I find many of my teapots in North Carolina, during my visits there.  I had to have this leopard print teapot!

and this cute little black and yellow polk a dot piece.

These are just a few of our lamps.  We also do commissioned lamps, using colors you request, or even your own special dinnerware.....maybe that special plate or cup from your grandmother.  Click here to see our full collection of lamps and clocks.

Wouldn't these be cute in a child's room?  They are made with commenorative plates.

Thank you for viewing my blog today.  Next post, we will be back to art....I promise!

I have been accused of having to many grayed down hues in my art, so recently, I an trying to focus on more vibrant color....no more pasty pastels!

I would like to report, that my tube of white paint is lasting longer, but it is too soon to tell.

Regardless, I am pleasently surprised with the color I achieved here, so hopefully I am on the right track.

Thanks for reading my blog today, and a special thank you to all who have supported my art and my blog with their purchases.

Dogwood Painting, Flower Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8 Oil painting on panel, SOLD

YES!  I am still painting flowers and lovin' it.  This one gave me lots of trouble, but in the end, I think I pulled it off.  It is not my usual painting, so I would love to hear your input.

SOLD
I call this my semi impressionist, semi abstracted piece.  I painted with  oil and added lots of medium to make the colors translucent.  Of course, I added all my favorite hues, whether I saw them or not.

I decided to reuse a panel with a not so perfect painting on it, but instead of sanding it down, I allowed all the texture from the previous painting to show through.  I like this idea and have used it several times since.  This one was all about trial and error, but, in the end.....it made me feel good!

Have a blessed day!

Daffodil Painting, Small Flower Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil

Another small flower painting.  I have really been inspired with flowers this spring.  I am experimenting with a few different techniques, trying to find and perfect m"my style".  My art seems to be evolving so quickly right now, and, I think it is from my studies with Elio Comacho.

I struggled for several hours over this little 6x8" painting, but, in the end I was pleased with the results.  I wanted to stay very loose and added lots of medium to my paint.

Dandelion Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Blowing in the Breeze", 6x8" Oil

Still painting flowers, and still painting dandelions.  I think the reason I have been so inspired to paint flowers this spring is my month long trip to the mountains.  As an Ohio girl, living in Florida, it has been a long time since I have experienced a "real" spring....and I missed it!

The area was covered in blooming crabapple, pear, and dogwood trees.  Flowers were bursting out everywhere....tulips,azalea,daffodils, lilac, rhododendron and more.  Why then did a choose to paint dandelions....why not!  I think they deserve a little respect.

I have been on quite a flower painting jag lately, and still have more to come.  I spent the month of April in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and was inspired by the beautiful show from Mother Nature.  Flowers were everywhere, especially the trees and bushes.

Now that I am home again, I cannot stop looking at my stash of photos and painting flowers every day.

Yesterday, I went to Bok tower, here in Florida, with my paint buddies, and got inspired all over again.  Miles of beautiful gardens!
