ME AND MY SHADOW, 8X8, OIL

I was in the mood to paint flowers and found some pretty roses at the market. I put it in a shadowbox and threw strong light on it to create the shadow. The vase is special to me as it was a gift from a dear friend. I thought a rose and heart would be appropriate for this time of the year.

Who knew a painting of a single rose in a vase could have SO much drama?!? Nice! -Don

A unique composition with the light on the table and wall directing my eye right to the rose. Now I'm "in the mood for love...."

Hi Carol, I think my comment got lost in the password meddle! If you find two, you can just publish one. I love the Old Master's feel of colourful darks and the great original idea of using the shadow as a positive shape!

I really like this Carol. The rose is bashful which is not often the case for roses.
Well done.
