HENS AND CHICKS AND BABYTOES, 12X12 OIL

I find that for my life, succulents are the perfect plants.  This time of the year in Florida we have blazing heat when everything dries up, followed by tropical downpours.  In the winter we may have temperatures below freezing.  We spend a lot of time traveling in the summer, so if I want my patio to look good I have to buy plants that are tough.  These babies seem to fill the bill.  So, this is my little ode to succulents, the amazing plants that come in thousands of shapes and spieces.

Carol, I love the colors! Blue and purple together are a favorite, coupled with the your Caribbean green, oh la la... You talk about intense heat, but I sense cool refreshing waters. Must be due to the succulents ability to hold its own water. Very well done!

Beautiful - a kindred spirit to your cabbage paintings. You can see how what we learn in one piece informs the next : )

Very, very nice. You've captured the fullness of the succulent plant.

Another great piece. Love the colors. Love the highlights on the tops of each leaf (or is it a petal?) Got our tickets for Jersey Boys! Now just have to wait 4 weeks!

Beautiful, Carol! As everyone has said the colors are so nice and the composition is, too. I like the touches of pink and your shapes are right on target.

Brilliant as usual. And thanks for the advise. Am finding it difficult but am definitely giving it a try.

How fun to have found your lovely art! The blues in this piece defy that Florida heat, dont they? You have chosen such beautiful, refreshing colors; very nice.

i can't believe this is an oil. i thought it was a watercolor. i love the "transparency" of the colors.

I love your choice of color in all your work but especially in this piece. Our painting styles are very different however there is something reminiscent or familiar. Your work leaves me wanting more!
