30x40" Original Oil Painting "A Spinnaker Day" SOLD

For years, I have been painting small daily paintings, day after day, month after month.  I liked the instant gratification,  starting a new project every day, no build up of huge inventory to clog my closets and under my beds.

SOLD

Now, I find myself getting a little bored with the same routine and I'm trying to fit some larger pieces into my schedule.

This one was very interesting to do.  It is a palette knife painting and I had lots of fun working on it.  I have changed my technique with a palette knife and ended up with a painting with plenty of texture.

I enjoyed working on this piece and plan to attempt more large works on a regular basis.

I love this one! Spinnaker sails are so pretty on the front of boats. I love daily paintings, but it is also nice to work on larger pieces with more detail.

I'm right there with you Carol - daily small paintings are so precious but nothing like a challenge with a larger format. Shake things up, I say!

Your handling of the palette knife is great - especially with the water.

So nice Carol. It is fun to shake it up and paint large sometimes.

Just beautiful, I love the texture and the orange against the blue.

Wish I could see it, and not just an image. I love the use of complements and I sure the texture is wonderful.
Bravo!

I really like this painting! I saw it as a thumbnail on my blog and was intrigued with the wonderful dimensional look of the spinnaker. It is good to work at different scales to challenge yourself and get another perspective/scale. Love your knife work!
