A few weeks ago, I awoke early, grabbed a cup of coffee and my camera and headed off to my favorite park on the inter-coastal. I was rewarded with a peaceful morning, arriving just as daylight was breaking. A blue heron was perched on a piling, contemplating breakfast, with the sun backlighting the scene.
How could I not paint it?? Well, I didn't even try to resist. A month from now, it may be 95 degrees with 100% humidity and everyone who lives in the southeast may be wondering, why?? I will have this little reminder of why. For someone else, it may be a snow shovel or bad back, but for me, this will do the trick.

Absolutely beautiful, Carol....love it on the easel too. Will you frame this one?
Early morning is such a beautiful time, so cool and peaceful which your painting captures perfectly.
I like the composition of the early morning! I love your representation of the sky (the choice of colors) and water and this majestic heron!
This is gorgeous! Captures the morning perfectly!
The heron is majestic perched on his piling but the skies and water do it for me! Your early morning scene is perfect as a reminder of the natural treasures we have living near the water. For you it is the Atlantic and for me, the Gulf Coast. Each is beautiful!

The silhouettes here are wonderful. They really create a story and feeling of being there. loely
The title of the painting is so perfect, must have been quite a morning, and the painting gives us so well the atmosphere of morning stillness. Beautifully done.
It must have really been a beautiful morning.
What a beautiful mood this painting has.
La sérénité lui appartient et vous l'avez à merveille transcrite dans cette belle peinture...
Bisous et bon lundi pascal.
So beautiful and it captures the moment perfectly! Great depth and sense of space . . . so loose and I love the grays and lavenders and all that light in the background.
