This is 2011, but it could easily be 1939. Old Florida, before Mickey, a kinder, gentler, slower time. No computers, or cell phones or even jet planes. The Florida of Silver Springs and Cypress Gardens fame. When people came to Florida for sunshine, beaches, and oranges.
Don't get me wrong. It's not that I hate the time we live in, but, now and then, for just a moment or two, it's nice to close your eyes and think back. Well, really far back, as my mother didn't even know my father in 1939. And, now that I think about it....there probably wasn't any air conditioning or mosquito control then either. Never mind.

Beautiful painting. It has a wonderful feel.
Lovely painting Carol. Wonderful mood you've captured. And yes it probably was a slower gentler time, but the no air conditioning could be a problem. :-)
I am loving this series..
Lovely painting. You really captured the mood you intended.
Lovely, Carol. We should always salute the past! I suppose open windows with fly screens took care of both the air-conditioning and the mosquitoes!
Thank goodness for air conditioning. Esp. in FL.
I love things from the past. Old houses, antiques, jewelry. Though I agree about some of the modern conveniences too!!!
I love it! You're right, no air conditioning unless you went to the drugstore or the movies.
Absolutely beautiful painting!
I'm glad to have seen it :)
Cheers,

Love it! I'm a sucker for old buildings and homes, but I'm definitely too spoiled with the modern age to actually go back.
Carol I can totally follow you, I wouldn't mind going back in time ( around 18oo ), such a romantic and slow period, but we can't help it, we were born in this century, might just as well enjoy it!
Love your building.
OH this takes me back to times spent on the Alabama coast as a girl. No AC or even a phone where we stayed but it was a peaceful slow time that I still remember fondly. I love this painting Carol.

Carol..a definite feel of Florida here. Like the pop of fushia against the building.
