Last month, my friends and I went on a photo shoot in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We rode the country roads, looking for scenic farms.

 I couldn't resist this old ragged barn, on it's last legs.  I painted with a palette knife hoping to bring the scene to life.

It was a hot September day and the grasses had turned a golden brown.

This old barn, sits near our home, in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I see it every day and knew I would paint it eventually.

I painted with brush and palette knife, creating texture for interest.  I popped the autumn colors, for the same reason.

I almost always use a black frame, as it really shows off the colors.

This is a scene I see every day when I am in Carolina.  I pass this beautiful meadow and barn on my morning walk and it never fails to impress me with it's beauty

No matter the season, I enjoy this sight.  I guess it is just my own little piece of heaven.  I have painted the barn many times, from different angles.  I have hundreds of images of the property.

It evokes memories of the simpler days of my youth and the rural area of Northwestern Ohio where I lived.  No open meadows there, but country roads with fields of tall corn growing right up to the edge of the road.

It is Wednesday again!  How do the weeks fly by so quickly?  Time to post another painting on sale.

I love the unique shapes of barns, especially old ones, and there are lots of them in western North Carolina.
My husband was nice enough to drive me around the outskirts of Waynesville, NC ,  stopping so I could jump out and take photos of the interesting barns we would find.  When I returned home to Florida, I had enough barn photos to keep me busy through out the winter.

This one is painted primarily with a palette knife.  It has always been a favorite because of the strong values.

At the time, the barns peppered the countryside, but these days they are few and far between.  If you are lucky enough to spot one, it is likely in disrepair and showing it's age.  This one is located in Bryson City, North Carolina in the Smoky Mountains.


Blogger has been misbehaving for me lately.  When I try to post more than one image, it insists on posting the second image at the top of the post.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I will try to out think them on my next post and see if I can get the second image in.

There is also a problem with subscription services.  At the moment, the feed is not working properly.  I have no idea whether or not subscribers are receiving the daily posts.  Hopefully, this will soon be solved too.
