I painted a bunch of green grapes not too long ago, and then half a grape...now I bunch of red grapes. I think I have totally explored grapes! Well, there are still those gorgeous black grapes, hmmmmmm.

KIWI HALF, 5X7 OIL, SOLD
Yesterday I promised to post another in my series of halves of fruits and vegetables. Today I present a kiwi. Usually you see them cut in circles and I think they are quite different from this angle. Hope you like it, I have another ready for tomorrow.

SOUTHEASTERN WETLAND, 5X7, OIL, SOLD
Another abstract marsh painting. Tomorrow I will post more in my series of half fruits and veggies. I have been posting 5 days a week now for 6 months and I can see the changes in my paintings. I thought it would be difficult to find something interesting to paint every day, but I find the real difficulty for me is to find something interesting to write. I may have to revert to one of those artists who posts their paintings with no commentary. I wish I were one of those clever types or more technical. I don't suppose there is any chance I will change at this stage of life...the only changes I see are accentuating my more undesirable traits, improvement seems out of the relm of possibilities.

BERRY REFLECTIONS, 6x8, OIL
As I have mentioned several times lately, winter light in my home can be a good thing. This is another example of a still life with a double reflection from my glass table top.

SUNRISE, 6X8, OIL
The ocean is still one of my favorite spots, and if you have the energy to get up and visit just as the sun is rising, it is a majestic sight. Every minute is different and if I take photos, each one will seem to have it's own palette.

RED RUBY GRAPE HALF, 5X7, OIL
I am really having fun working on this series of half fruits and vegetables. Here is one tiny grape, cut in half and sitting on my window sill with the light behind. Fruit is so interesting viewed from the inside. It is thrilling to me when I photograph these items and find the one photo that has the composition that I cannot resist. Guess my life (or lack of) is pretty pathetic! Anyway, I had fun on this one and I have a few more coming up this week.

I'M A LITTLE TEAPOT, 5X7, OIL
I think I have mentioned in the past that my friend, Donna Vines, has a killer teapot collection. This is another of her's, although the actual teapot is covered in orange and blue stripes. It was too much for my little brain to figure out, so I took the easy road. I like to think of it as quiet and sophisticated, as opposed to Donna's circus tent object. Just kidding, Donna! Stop by her blog, she not only paints, but writes limmericks too!

PELICAN PATROL, 6X8, OIL, SOLD
These are rare white pelicans that winter in our area. I am not sure where they live in the summer, but in the winter they travel primarily to Sebastian, FL to hang out for a few months. Now, I live maybe 25 miles away, but I have never seen a white pelican in my town. They only go to Sebastian. So here they are heading out to get some fresh dinner.

PEPPER HALF, 5X7, OIL, SOLD
If you didn't like yesterday's post, you probably won't like this one either! I cut a red pepper in half and then taught it how to stand at attention in the window sill while I painted. I got the most lovely backlight shining through the cut pepper which really made it come alive. Not sure I was able to capture it in this photo.

BERRIES AND KIWI, 11X14, OIL SOLD
The fruit was really nice at the grocery and I bought several varities. Naturally, it looked too good to eat, so first I painted. I did have fun with this one, it was enjoyable using all the vivid colors.
Debbie Schiff of South Africa has awarded me the Sunshine Award. I met Debbie on Facebook due to the same last name. My husband's family originally came to the US from South Africa and I thought we might have a family connection (still don't know). Anyway, Debbie is a skilled watercolorist and I hope you will visit her blog here. Debbie, keep those beautiful watercolor/ink sketches comming, and thank you so much for this award.
Another little connection. I was checking out all the artists that Debbie sent this award to when I stumbled upon one that focused on Viera Wetlands birders. Turns out , this artist is from Tennessee and has recently been visiting the Wetlands to photograph the variety of birds that gather. The Wetlands are about 5 miles from my home. So, while sitting in my home, in just a few minutes, I find a connection to South Africa and then one down the street from me. Do you remember that old movie "Around the World in 80 Days"? Now it is more like, around the world in 80 seconds!
