Gone to the Dogs!, Original Dog Oil Paintings, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

My niece Kayla, asked me to paint a small portrait of her dog.  It reminded me of all the dog portraits I did, when I first started painting.

People have such an emotional connection with their pets.

I  enjoy the personality that show in pictures of dogs and I strive to capture that quality in my paintings.

Some of my favorites...

Have a happy day!

California Landscape, Coastal Wall decor, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 8x10" Original

California has it all...mountains, oceans, wild beauty. This view of PCH speaks to the breathless views of this great state.

I couldn't get to California, so I used a photo from photographer, Ted Fuhrur, with his permission, for reference.

While painting this piece, I couldn't stop remembering the time my husband and I, drove PCH from San Francisco to Carmel.  What an experience!!

If you have never done it, I highly recommend the trip.  You will be hard pressed to duplicate the beautiful scenic landscape elsewhere.

Thank you for reading my blog today!

Seagull Painting, Bird Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on panel

The three birds in today's daily painting look a little goofy to me.  Maybe they are hungry, or maybe they are plotting against another, but I just don't trust them.

SOLD
They remind me of my childhood and the notorious "Three Stooges", Larry, Moe and Curly.
You remember them don't you?  They were always getting into trouble.

They are looking at a fourth seagull....not in this painting, and I don't think it is in a friendly manner!  I hope to do a second painting of this group, including the fourth member.

The reference photo was shared from Shelley Smart at her wonderful blog here.  Shelley is a fantastic photographer and generous too.  She gave me permission to use her image years ago.  I hope you will visit her interesting blog, "A Year at the Beach", where she recorded the activity on the beach every day.

A ranch in Colorado.  I think this little painting speaks to the dry, sprawling county.

Mountain Sunset Palette Knife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Textured Art

There is something special about a sunset over the mountains.  In fact, I am attracted to any sunset, but I seem to paint a lot of them in a mountain landscape.
