Abstract Oil Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Abstract Seascape, 6x6x1.5" SOLD

The Outer Banks on North Carolina have been on my mind.  I was thinking of Ocracoke when I painted this little abstract seascape.

The Outer Banks is like no other place I have visited. Surrounded by water, the residents are a hardy type who take pride in providing for themselves.  The danger of living there, is still felt, as the tropical storms and hurricanes devastate the dunes and road on a regular basis.  In earlier times, shipwrecks littered the beaches.

I painted with a palette knife and oils, leaving it as raw and wild as the beaches.

Thanks for viewing my art today.

Blue Ridge Mountain Summer Landscape, Pink Wildflowers Art, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, SOLD

I love summers in the Blue Ridge Mountains!  Everything seems to glow, and take your breath away.

SOLD

Painted with a palette knife and full of texture.

I tried my best to get the same vibrant colors I saw around me.

If you have a chance to take a road trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Hello Florida, Goodbye Asheville!

I first posted this 30 months ago.  I have to say, my feelings have not changed, although my situation has.  We are now in the process of returning to Florida to live.  I will miss Asheville everyday.

We have just left the beaches of Florida and moved to the mountains of western North Carolina.   This is a preview of what our surroundings will look like in a few weeks...no blooms yet!

Everyone loves a touch of spring this time of the year....enjoy!

One afternoon I grabbed my camera and ran outside to capture the beautiful spring day and this is what I found.

I inherited a garden in front of our new home, and everything was coming alive at once...

Fiddleheads were popping up

Dogwood was blooming everywhere I
looked in both pink.....

and white blossoms.  Tulips, lilac and azalea were everywhere and the days were filled with the music of songbirds.

A drive to WaterRock Knob, off the Blue Ridge Parkway, showed less color at the higher elevation, but still beautiful to see.

For an Ohio girl, who has spent most of the last 50 years in Florida, it seemed all my memories of spring were spread out before my eyes.  Don't get me wrong, I truly love living in Florida, but when spring or fall calls, I head to the mountains.

Stay tuned, to see these images interpreted in oil.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Everglades Storm, Abstract Landscape, Textured Art, Palette Knife Painting

In the tropics, the storms come in quickly and violently!  This large landscape painting attempts to convey the power and drama of these events.

I painted with a palette knife and tried to keep all the strokes visible and strong.

Some areas have extremely thick paint.

This was a study for a 48x60" piece that I painted.

Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Mountain Sunset Landscape Oil Painting, SOLD

There is something special about a sunset over the mountains.  In fact, I am attracted to any sunset, but I seem to paint a lot of them in a mountain landscape.

SOLD
I was very pleased with this one.  I enjoyed the texture and the colors.
