Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Beach Music" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

Living close to the sea, it is no surprise that I paint a lot of seascapes.  The sea and mountains have one thing in common....they never look the same from day to day or even minute to minute.  Fascinating and beautiful!

Life gets busy and sometimes I don't visit the beach for months at a time.  When I finally get there, it is like visiting an old friend.  I always vow to get back more often.

Seascapes and Hawii Five O, Seascape Oil Painting, Ocean Painting

Over the years, I have painted many seascapes, both impressionistic and abstract.  It is part of my environment, living on the coast of Florida, and sometimes seascapes showed up almost without my intention.

On the beach

The paintings always sold very well and I have featured a few of them as giclee prints.  Can you image my escitement when two of my prints were sold for set design on the CBS show "Hawaii Five O?

A Call From Mother

Yes, it's true!  I still can not believe it! This was one of my favorite shows in the 70's and I love the currant version too.  I will be checking out every episode in the upcoming season, trying to get a quick glimpse of my art.  Unfortunately, I have no information about when this will happen.

The good news is, you can own them too.  Both prints are available in the sizes of your choice at the links below the images.

Book em, Dan-o!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Floral Still Life, Small Flower Painting, Flower Knife Art, "Roadside Bouquet" by Carol Schiff, 8x8x1.5" Oil SOLD

I call this "Roadside Bouquet" because I was walking a country road in the Blue Ridge Mountains last summer, and I collected all these wonderful flowers blooming in ditches and fields.  Wild day lily, Queen Ann's Lace, daisy and purple clover abound!

SOLD
I was in the zone, while painting this, slinging paint and making no effort to be true to the image I was working from.  No, my orange day lilies don't look like day lilies and I am fine with that.

It was one of my favorite home made bouquets...here is the picture.

I cannot wait for summer to return!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Abstract Expressionism, "Southwest Sunset", 8x8x1.5" Oil

As you know, I like to dabble with abstract on occasion.  I seem to paint in spirts....all landscapes, or all flowers, or all seascapes, etc.  This is left over from the last time I had the itch to do an abstract.

Try and try again, I could not accurately photograph the colors in this piece.  It is actually a tad brighter than depicted here.  Don't you hate when that happens?

Trying to show the sides of the canvas in this shot....not inspired, sorry!

Cheers!!

Daily Painting, Floral Art, Small Oil Painting, Sunflower Painting, "SunnyFlowers" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

Don't you just love sun flowers?  What could be unlikable about a giant flower, one you have to look up to?  Sunny, bright and full of energy with their big brown eyes and bobbing heads....they always make me happy.

I wanted to do  a tribute to them, something free and full of movement.  I worked with my palette knife and tried to pop the color.  I left plenty of texture because I want this painting to be touched.

I enjoy my work in simple black frames.  A black frame is always complimentary, it showcases the painting so well.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Hydrangea Painting, 10x10" Still Life Floral SOLD

This small oil painting is done with a knife, in very harmonious colors, making a very serene piece of art.

SOLD
It is a highly textured painting and one of my favorites.  The soft colors make it easy to live with.  It will fill that corner of your room without shouting out it's presence.

Now for the deal of the day.....Purchase at the link above and you will be charged $149.95 and shipping. You must write ART SALE on the order to receive the discount.  As soon as I receive your payment, I will return a credit of $25.00 to your credit card or PayPal account.

This sale is only for readers of my blog, so if you don't write ART SALE on the order, I won't know you saw it here and you won't get a rebate.

Tip for artists:  Instead of purchasing art books, I purchase paintings from my favorite artists.  I find it much more helpful for me to study technique and brushwork from an actual example instead of a book.  I have the added benefit of owning original artwork which I enjoy daily in my home.

Figurative Painting, Daily Painting, 16x20 Oil Painting, "One the Rocks"

Several years ago, when my children and grandchildren came for a visit, I took a photograph of my young granddaughter.  She was perched on a rock, next to the rapids of the Nantahala River, watching as kayakers and rafters made their way down the river.

Naturally, I wanted to paint the scene, which I did, as a 16x20" oil.  I gave this piece to my daughter and she cherishes it to this day.

I have had several requests for prints of this piece, and recently included it on my Etsy site as a canvas giclee' print.  Follow the link under the image for details.

I also want to show you the companion piece, same place, same story, featuring her brother, my oldest grandson.

It is also available as a print.  If you are interested, please contact me for details.

Enjoy your day!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Small Seascape, "Celebrating Blue" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

I worked this small seascape with a knife, trying to mimic the action of the waves with my strokes.

SOLD
I usually work from images on my computer, but this time the image was in my head.  I tried to fill the canvas with shades of blues and greens, and also to suggest a little of the beach.

MY PRINTS
I feel I captured the spirit of the waves rushing to shore, and I must say, it was a most enjoyable experience.  I plan to try this technique again.

Daily Painting, Small OIl Painting, Nest Painting, "Nesting" by Carol Schiff, 12x12x1.5" Oil SOLD

This small oil painting is an attempt to paint a new subject for me.  I have been inspired by the nest paintings of  Julie Oliver Ford.......actually by all her paintings.  Julie does stunning nests in oils and watercolors.  When an opportunity presented it's self to me, I decided to give it a try.

SOLD
Unlike Julie, I used a palette knife to achieve the nest effect.

Wildlife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "The Bandit" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Today I have another wildlife painting, image provided by my photographer friend, Ted Fuhrer.  Thanks Ted!

Ted lives on top of a mountain in North Carolina and has visit from many types of critters.  I was especially taken by this image.

SOLD

I have always been drawn to wildlife.  When my son was small, I did a series of counted cross stitch pictures for his room.  I still have a few....a bear and a bobcat.

I think these would be terrific in a boy's room too.
