Abstract Poured Paint, Mixed Media Painting, "STREAMS" by Carol Schiff, 6x6x1.5" SOLD

I hope you enjoy this example of  abstract poured paint.

SOLD

This has a very hard, high gloss finish on gallery wrap canvas.  Silver metallic paint brings additional interest and works well with the finish to create an eye-catching piece.

Small Floral Still Life, "African Violet", 6x8" Oil SOLD

Now that spring is here, flowers are starting to bloom everywhere.

SOLD

The beauty of African Violets is that with a little sunlight, they will bloom all year round.

Of course, this one doesn't even need sunlight!

Abstract Landscape, "Day is Done", 6x8" Oil Abstract SOLD

It is early evening in the Florida marsh and the sun is just about to disappear.

SOLD

I snapped my photo and high-tailed it out of there before the creepy crawlies came out.

I enjoy a lot of texture in my work and find that abstraction is the perfect media to portray it.

Do you find that your goals in art change as you continue on your artistic journey?

The Rest of the Story, 6x8 Oil sold

The photo reference for this painting is several years old and with any luck these ducks are fully grown and enjoying the good life in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

SOLD

What you don't see is their mother, who was anxiously protecting her brood, or the big mouth bass that was lurking two feet away, with hopes of an easy dinner.  Life is not easy, but I prefer to think they survived unharmed.

Abstract Painting "Free Fall", 12x12" On Gallery Wrap Canvas, SOLD

SOLD

detail

This reminds me of a view of clouds and the sea as seen from outer space.

On another note, I have just returned from a Carol Nelson mixed media workshop in Lacombe LA.  What a fun and informative week!  Carol is adorable and a talented instructor  and her art is even more amazing when viewed in life!  I cannot wait to begin experimenting with the techniques she taught us.

Recital II, Pastel, SOLD

Last month I posted a pastel painting of a young girl at the piano, a commission.  Today, I am posting the second piece, the younger sister.  My client loves the classic feel of the original work.  This one has a different focus.

SOLD

She wanted the viewer to notice the sheet music, which is upside down.

Original Oil Abstract, Mardi Gras, 12x12"

When I do an abstract painting, it always mirrors my mood at that time.  The title of this work should give you some insight as to how I was feeling that day...........

240 + 15

Abstracts always seem so free and easy....just slap on some paint and a masterpiece will magically appear...NOT!

Some artists are able to do it that way, but I have to have an idea of a composition and a color palette in mind.  For me, the "vision" is the most difficult part.

If you have never tried an abstract, I highly recommend it.
