Appalachian Country Church Original Oil Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Asheville Area Landscape

I travel to Asheville each spring and fall, trying to record the beautiful scenery of the area.

I couldn't overlook the many small white mountain churches of the area.

Farmhouse Wall Decor, Sunflower Oil Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Palette Knife Art, Textured, SOLD

Sunflowers and farmhouses, the perfect pairing!

It is a cold, gray day, here in the mountains, and sunflowers are the perfect way to brighten things up.

Both sunflowers and farmhouses, are not uncommon, here in the mountains.  It's hard not to smile when I look at sunflowers.

Have a wonderful day!

Autumn Maple Tree Landscape Painting, Palette Knife Technique, Asheville Fall Foliage Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

It's that time of year and we are soon on our way to Asheville to see the gorgeous fall foliage.  So....I got inspired to paint this piece from an image of our own red maple tree.

The trees are beautiful at any time of year, but they really glow in the fall.

I felt it deserved a textured palette knife treatment, which I think really adds to the finished piece.

Floral Oil Painting, Knife Painting, Small oil Painting, Daily Painting

I call this "Roadside Bouquet" because I was walking a country road in the Blue Ridge Mountains last summer, and I collected all these wonderful flowers blooming in ditches and fields.  Wild day lily, Queen Ann's Lace, daisy and purple clover abound!

I was in the zone, while painting this, slinging paint and making no effort to be true to the image I was working from.  No, my orange day lilies don't look like day lilies and I am fine with that.

It was one of my favorite home made is the picture.

I cannot wait for summer to return!

I couldn't find anything to paint, so, I decided to paint my breakfast.  On this day, I was waiting for Hurrican Irma to pass by us.  After an extremely stressful week, with reports ranging from landfall on the east coast of Florida to the west coast, and back again, it is headed for Tampa as I paint.

Our house is encased in metal panels and no sunlight or noise is heard outside.  It is sunny, or raining.....I have not idea. Later, the wind will howl and the walls may shake, but our primary fear is flooding inside out home.

Painting has helped me get through the day and taken my mind off what is happening outside.
