Small Still Life Painting, "Hello? Who's Calling?" 8x10 Original Oil Painting SOLD

If you are older than 20 years, you probably remember the days when phones were only in our homes, or maybe in a phone booth.  How quickly everything you knew can change!

Original 8x10 Oil Painting

These days, we are all tied to the credit card sized phone we carry everywhere..........and of course, it is so much more than a phone!

This may be the only phone you will see sitting on a desk these days, a little reminder of days gone bye.

My 1/2 price sale on Etsy is ending this week.  I want to take this opportunity to post a few more of the small works that are available.

The link is here, a great chance to pick up some unique gifts at a great price.  Many are priced under $30.

Abstract, Original Oil, Non-representational SOLD"Blue and Green" 6x8"

You know me.......I am off the beaten track again!  I did several abstract paintings last week and decided to show you one today.

SOLD

This is a study of color interaction and composition.  Because I love texture in my paintings, I threw some of that in too.

I find abstract work to be very rewarding and relaxing.  The perfect activity to counteract burnout or other stresses of life.  It only works for me for a week or two.......then the desire for structure, the desire to produce a recognizable image, overwhelms me and I retreat to my still life and landscapes.  How do you deal with burnout?

Now that we are into serious Christmas shopping, I wanted to show you another of my little daily paintings that is on sale at half price this week.

You can find the link here.

Daily Painting, 6x8" Original Oil Still Life SOLD "Cindy Grows Tomatoes" SOLD

My friend, Cindy, may live in a condo, but that doesn't stop her from being an excellent gardener.

SOLD
These lovely specimens were happily growing on the balcony on a vine that was bursting with fruit.

$96

I tried to capture the sun streaming through the vine and the tomatoes in various stages of red.
Doesn't it just make you want to go mix up a salad?  How much better can it be than to pick food from the vine and walk directly into the kitchen with it to prepare dinner.  The perfect lunch break while shopping today!

Speaking of shopping, don't forget my 1/2 price sale here.  November 30th is the last day of the sale.
Wouldn't you like to have Santa bring you a small oil painting?  You can do that for someone you love.

Small Oil Still Life, 6x8 Original Painting, "Teapot and Peppers"

Monday is "paint group" day.  Nine of us meet and paint together, something we have been doing for several years.  Over the summer, people are traveling and we are lucky to have 3 or 4, but whomever is in town is always there.

We have gotten lazy over the summer and instead of providing a group project, each of us would just work on something we chose.  Last week, we got back in the swing of things.  I brought in this cheery little teapot and colorful peppers to paint.  It is so much more fun when we are all working on the same set up!

My 1/2 price sale continues and I am posting a few more of the paintings that are available as I write this.

The link to my Etsy 1/2 price sale is here.

Happy Day!

"Sea Drifter" 16x20" Oil, Boat Painting, SOLD and Studio Sale

The painting I am featuring today is a commission piece.  My wonderful client sent her husband's photographic images to me and asked that I use them as reference.

SOLD
I worked with a palette knife and tried to capture the spirit of the scene.  The image she sent me was so beautiful.  I was thrilled when she expressed her approval.

On another note, I am running my first ever half price sale on some of my  small daily paintings on my Etsy site, here.  The paintings are selling fast,  so THINK CHRISTMAS!  The sale ends November 30th and any remaining paintings will return to full price.  Below are a few of the many available.

Palette Knife Art, "A Thistle Day" by Carol Schiff, 8x10" Oil ,SOLD

Who said weeds are not pretty???  I found these thistles on top of Grandfather Mountain outside of Boone, NC last month.

Purchase here
SOLD
Their delicate color and beautiful form was all it took for me to know I had to paint them.  However, it was 50ish, 30 MPH winds and in a very inconvenient spot, so no painting took place at that time.

Fortunately, I had my trusty traveling companion, my camera, hung around my neck and was able to capture this image.

I think that one of the most wonderful things about being an artist is that it has given me the ability to see beauty in unexpected places.   I am so thankful for that gift.

"Ridge Line" 6x12" Palette Knife Painting SOLD

It is hard to beat the beauty of the mountains, especially when the sun is setting.

We were enjoying dinner at a friend's house when the sun put on this wonderful display.  The watercolor sky was impossible to ignore and the trees on the ridge appeared on fire as the sun dropped behind the mountain.

Sunsets are truly one of life's jewels.  Enjoy!

Daily Painting, Small Landscape "A Touch of Fall" 6x8" Original Oil SOLD

We spent a few days in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains last week.  Mother Nature out did herself with perfect days in the mid 60's, blue skies and the trees in peak color.

SOLD
This scene is our next door neighbor and I couldn't ask for more.  The brilliant red house nestled into the fall foliage and everything reflected in the lake at the front of the property.

If you have not taken the time to celebrate autumn.......do it now!  Go carve a pumpkin :)

It was hard to leave the mountains and return to Florida where it is still hot and humid.

This is the third time I have written this post.  It appears Blogger hates me.  When I try to publish....the whole thing suddenly disappears.  Is anyone out there having any problems with Blogger, or am I the only lucky one?

Don't forget to check out my painting sale at my Etsy site where I have listed paintings at 1/2 off for a short period of time.

Floral Painting, "Memories of Summer" 6x8" SOLD

This year seems to be flying bye and winter will soon be on us.  I am still thinking summer, or at least early fall, in my mind.

SOLD

Cone flowers are one of my favorites.  They don't grow in central Florida, but we see them everywhere in the mountains of Carolina.   There is something about their shape that attracts me to them.  I like the way the cone stands erect and the petals droop down.

I also like that they come up every year.  I only want to plant them once!

Today is the first of November, and I should be thinking about pumpkins and turkey.  I must have that denial thing going on!
