Flower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Expressionist Art, Print on Canvas

I went to Biltmore Gardens a few weeks ago, and the conservatory was bursting with tulips, daffodil, hyacinth and other spring favorites.  I was so inspired!

Purchase here
This one one of three paintings I did with this color combination, a favorite of the Biltmore gardeners.

The original is sold, but contact me for a giclee print in the size of your choice.

Living in Florida for 40 years, I'm am enjoying my first spring in the Blue Ridge Mountains, seeing many of the flowers I remember as a child.  I am excited to see even more as the season turns to summer.  Have my fingers crossed that I will find lilac in my neighborhood.

More to come.....thanks for ready my blog today.

Wildflower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Floral Landscape, 6x8" Oil on Panel, SOLD

Today's painting is a memory of last summer.

As I was painting, looking out my window at a cold, gray day, with snow spitting now and then, I REALLY wanted to remember last summer!  Did I question my decision to leave the beaches of Florida, for the the mountains of North Carolina?    You betcha!

But, then I reminded is all about choices.  I don't care for cold weather, but I enjoy bundling up in warm sweaters and furry boots.  After 40 years in Florida, I look forward to the change of scenery and seasons.

No, I won't miss the sweltering summers and fury of hurricanes.  I look forward to spending the winter months on the beaches....the best of both worlds.

Find beauty and peace wherever you can.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Small Oil Seascape, Palette Knife Painting, Daily Painting Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Beach Scene

I may have left Florida behind, bu it is still on my mind.  I look forward to spending time on the beach this winter.

Purchase here

This piece was painted, from my memories of days on the beach, the air full of salt spray.

I painted with a palette knife, because, you all know how much I admire texture in my work.

I have several seascapes in my new Asheville keeps me from getting homesick!  ACTUALLY, I love it here in the mountains.  I now feel I have the best of both worlds.  Mountains in the spring, summer and fall, and the beach in the winter.  Looking forward to being a "snow bird".

Thanks for visiting today.

Wildlife Painting, Robin Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 5x7" Angry Robin

Angry Bird

This little guy is my upside down painting.  I painted him upside down, as a drawing exercise, which is supposed to trick my brain.  Ha!

I'm not sure why he is so
angry, but I think it has something to do with the fact that he may have come back to North Carolina, just a little too early.  I think he is seriously thinking about turning around and heading back to Florida, because he is caught in a spring snow storm, here in the Blue Ridge Mts.

He is also my first painting, since I left my Florida home, to live here in the mountains around Asheville.  I may be following him back to Florida, if it doesn't warm up here soon!

He is 5x7" on oil and looking for a home, preferably in one of the more southern, warmer spots of the world.  Leave me a comment if you have to have him.

Flower Painting, Sunflower Painting, Small Oil Painting, 12x16" Original Floral

Remember summer?  Now that I have moved, after living in Florida for 40 years, winter has slapped me in the face!  Even though it has been a very mild February, I long for the warmth of the sun.

Purchase here

I think this is an interesting viewpoint, looking up at a sunflower that was towering over me.

If you ever visit Waynesville, NC, look for Love Lane Flower Farm, where you can pick your flowers fresh.  They supply everything you need and you pay on the honor system.  How cool is that?

Hope you have a sunny day.

Abstract Painting, Small Abstract, Alcohol Inks, Experimenting

I am finally writing a post in my new home!  It has been a long and stressful journey, from Melbourne, FL to Asheville NC.  I know I am home, because I am finally painting, posting and doing all those art related activities that were a part of my life for 25 years.  Welcome home!

This is an experiment with alcohol inks.  I purchased the inks, as a change from my oils, but my move has gotten in the way of experimenting with them.  I did find this little sample to be interesting and have lots of ideas on ways to use them in the future.  Have you tried them?  I am open to suggestions and techniques.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
