BERRIES IN CREAMER, 5X7 OIL

This is an old painting that I found in my studio closet last week.  I painted this a few years ago and at the time I was very happy with the results.  Not so much now.  The nice things about old paintings is that you can see the road you are traveling.  This one will always have a little warm spot in my heart.  Tomorrow I will post the companion piece.

I am intrigued with learning how to paint something silver. Hmmmm! I gathered all my spoons and find I have 5 different styles. I played pick-up sticks with them and have some interesting arrangements. Now to try a small painting. I'll, of course, want your critique of it when I'm done; you do it so well all the time.

Lovely lovely lovely Carol! Excellent colors [as always] and working with the dark background makes this stand out from most of your work. I also adore that artichoke you posted a couple of days ago. I'll have to try and paint one.

Nice piece Carol, I like the soft richness of the berries against the harder edges of the jug and the dark background. I just love the otter painting, I agree they are so playful and cute. You really captured some character. I also liked your colour palette for the artichoke. Glad I found your blog.

Well, this one looks good to me. The colors are strong and I like how the dark background peeks through the creamer.

Oh, Carol, you HAVE to keep this! It may not be exactly what you're excited about now, but it's lovely. Those strawberries! MmmmMm!

The painting still looks great! although it lacks some of the energy and spontaneity of your recent pieces. Nice to see how we grow and change artistically.

I like the dramatic dark background and the way it affected the color choices. Very nice and a great reflection!

The berries look luscious. I like the dark background adding emphasis to the rich color of the berries and blue green reflection.
