This is a view of the intracoastal waterway, on the east coast of Florida.

Tropical Sunrise Painting, Landscape Painting, "Florida Sunrise", Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, SOLD, 6x8" Oil

I was drinking my morning coffee, in a hotel lobby, when I noticed the sun coming up behind the palms.  I took a photo (through the window blinds) and used it as a reference.

I like to use these small paintings on shelves  for added interest.  Some times I frame them, some times I don't.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Beach Oil Painting, Florida Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting,SOLD, 6x8" Tropical Painting

I recently returned home from four wonderful days on Amelia Island, Florida.  The ocean is often very calm there....not a good surfing place.  One evening we stood on the beach and watched dusk descend over the water.

SOLD, but contact me to order a giclee print on canvas.
It was the first time I have been inspired to do a landscape in quite awhile.  I felt very relaxed, just painting this peaceful scene.  Hope you like it!

Have a great day!

Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Beach Music" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

Living close to the sea, it is no surprise that I paint a lot of seascapes.  The sea and mountains have one thing in common....they never look the same from day to day or even minute to minute.  Fascinating and beautiful!

Life gets busy and sometimes I don't visit the beach for months at a time.  When I finally get there, it is like visiting an old friend.  I always vow to get back more often.

Painting Sale | Tropical Painting | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Florida Morning by Carol Schiff | 6x8 Oil SOLD

Time for my weekly painting on sale. This painting is the result of an early morning adventure.  I grabbed a cup of coffee and my camera and jumped into my car.  I arrived at the intracoastal park just in time to record the sun breaking over the horizon. I still remember the quiet and peace of that morning.  I highly recommend  everyone give it a try now and then.

Florida Landscape | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Palm Grove by Carol Schiff | 8x6" Oil | SOLD

I was on a photo shoot one late afternoon, walking though wetlands and knee high grasses.  I was getting a little anxious as the wildlife and creepy crawlies get more active as the sun goes down.  When I came home, I found several reference photos that I was interested in painting, which made it all worth while.

SOLD

I liked the way the early evening light was hitting these palms, turning them from gray to gold.  This is a little study for a much larger piece that I am interested in trying.  Hopefully, I can get to it soon.

Art Sale, Daily Painting, Tropical Landscape, "Coconuts from Sanibel" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

purchase here
95 minus 20
This is one of two paintings I did of this tree, after a visit to Sanibel Island.  Sanibel Island is in the southern half of the state of Florida and considered as "tropical".  I live in Central Florida, which is considered "sub-tropical".  Being in the sub-tropics, we don't get coconuts growing on our palms, so I was attracted to something a little different.

Marsh Painting, Daily Painting, "Golden Marsh" by Carol Schiff. 6x8" Oil SOLD

Marshes are magical places.  The colors of the season is so distinct.  On this day, I wanted to capture the beautiful colors of fall  in the southern marsh.  The day was sunny and the marsh was glowing with golds and browns and complimentary blues in the sky.

SOLD
In the winter months it wears a beautiful coat of mauves and of course, spring is all yellow-green.  Summer brings a more mature green, often speckled with wildflowers

Whatever the color, I love those marshes and wetlands.  The wildlife is always spectacular.  Just a few miles from my Florida home is a wetland that has become one of the top bird watching areas in the USA.  Bird watchers travel from around the world to capture their beauty.  They often capture the beauty of an alligator or two whether they want to or not.

The marsh in this painting is in Florida.

Daily Painting, Small oil painting, "Room with A View" by Carol Schiff, 8x10x1.5" Oil, SOLD

Strange name for a landscape.....maybe.  When I opened to door to my hotel room, this is the scene that pulled me across the room and on to the balcony........the perfect Florida beach scene, the glorious view we all hope for when we rent that room!  I knew the day would be good....and it was!

SOLD

I painted with on gallery wrap canvas with the sides painted, so no frame is required.
My challenge in this painting was to capture the beautiful jewel tones on the sea and suggest the strong tropical light.

I hope you have a "room with a view" on your next vacation!  Enjoy!

Small Landscape Painting, "Intracoastal Island" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil, SOLD

This small landscape painting depicts a scene I see every day.  Florida's intracoastal waterway is dotted with small uninhabited islands.

Purchase here
SOLD

During warmer months, the islands are often gathering places for camping and fishing trips or simply a fun boating trip for a family outing.  Even the youngest kids enjoy the sandy beaches and calm, shallow waters and many picnics and happy days occur there.

I painted the scene with a palette knife in the style I like to call "color weaving" which gives it a nice textured look.  I particularly like a small landscape painting in a simple black frame which, I feel, gives a sense of elegance.  I love when you pin my work!

Small Seascape, daily painting, small oil painting, Florida painting SOLD

If you're having a grey rainy day today, this small seascape painting might help you get through the day.

Purchase here
SOLD

It's a small  view of the ocean from east central Florida.  I love the repetitive action of the waves and could watch them roll into the beach for hours at a time.

It works well, just sitting on a shelf with a seashell or another reminder of your last trip to the tropics.

The scene extends around the sides of the canvas, so no framing is required.

I took a trip to Jetty Park at Pt. Canaveral the other day.

That's where all the cruise ships dock and head out to the islands.  The weather was perfect, mid 70's, and I came home feeling like I had been on a little mini vacation.  Maybe this small seascape painting will help you to feel that way too.

Florida Landscape Painting, Palm Tree Art, "Twins" 18x14" Oil SOLD

An ode to my home state...two stately palms residing on the banks of the intra-coastal waterway.

SOLD

Painted with my favorite instrument.....a palette knife.  I like the way I can transition from one color to another with my knives.  I kept this painting quite smooth in comparison with many of my palette knife works
