Florida Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Tropical Painting, 5x7" Oil Landscape SOLD

Moving Sale!!

25% Off most original paintings

I guess I am a typical artist.  By that, I mean unorganized!

I just found this little painting in the back of my inventory closet.  I must have painted it 6 or 7 years ago!

I always wondered why it didn't sell!

I sit here tonight (Sept 10) listening to the wind howl, the rain pounding, a huge tree down in our yard and another of about 19 tornado warnings on our weather radio going off.  Hurricane Irma has been beating us up all day, with the worse to come about 2:00 a.m.

Trying to do blog posts to distract from the fury outside.

On the bright side, for the time being, we still have power.  The lights flicker, but so far, they have come back on.  That's a biggy!  When we lose power in a hurricane, it usually takes close to a week to get it back.  A long hot, humid week!!

Thanks for reading my blog.

Wildlife Painting, Alligator Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Original Art

These guys are not uncommon sights in Florida.  Sometimes you see them snoozing in the sun next to a road.  Golfer's here usually have a scary encounter to tell.

SOLD
This was my third attempt to paint this fellow.  I had difficulty getting the drawing correct, as well as the color.  The image I worked from was not exciting. Eventually, I think I worked it out.

Go gators!

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Birds on a Florida Beach Original Oil Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Coastal and Beach House Home Decor

One of my favorite subjects is beach scenes.  This is my latest.

I like to walk the beaches and can always count on a selection of birds to keep me company.

I was attracted to the birds shadows and reflections in this piece.

Beach Oil Painting, Seagull and Surf Art, Coastal Home Decor, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painter

I have run from the snowy mountains, to the beaches of Florida.  Lucky me, I can walk on the beach, and work at the same time.

Purchase Here
I photoed this guy, during my morning walk and painted soon after.

The birds are so conditioned to people, they barely move when you approach.  In the morning, it is all business, as they are looking for food.

We are enjoying our Florida winter on the beach.  Being a snowbird is a good thing!

Wildlife Painting, Nature Artwork, Coastal Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 8x16x1.5"

I can remember the day, I was walking the beach, in Florida, and captured this scene with my camera.  The birds were my only companion, that morning.  Can you smell the salt air?

Purchase here

The canvas is 8x16x1.5, with the sides painted in a dark value, allowing it to be hung with or without a frame.

Thanks for viewing!

Daily Painting| Wildlife Art | Bird Painting| Small Oil Painting | The Hunt by Carol Schiff 8x10" Oil SOLD

We spent a few days on Sanibel recently.  It is such a lovely experience, like living in the middle of a nature preserve.

I ran into this guy on an early morning walk.  He was under the causeway and all business.

It was only a matter of minutes before he had his breakfast.

It must have been a favorite fishing spot in the area, because he was surrounded by lazy pelicans (they were watching, not working) and several fishermen in boats.  None of this seem to bother him.

Daily Wildlife Painting, Oil, Birds, "The Gangs All Here" 4x12 SOLD

I think pelicans must be very social critters.

sold

I cannot help but wonder what these are thinking.........safety in numbers?  Fishing strategies?  Chase away the herons?  Gossip???

I kind of like this idea....big fish, little pelicans.

I spent the weekend at the beach in Sanibel and had the opportunity to observe plenty of pelicans.  Did you know, the brown pelican is the only one that hunts while flying and then dive bombs into the water to catch it's prey.

That's it for Pelican Week at Carol Schiff Studio.

DA BEAR, 5X7, OIL

We spent a few days cruising Fontana Lake in a pontoon boat this summer. The lake is great, with clean refreshing cool water surrounded by beautiful untouched forest. It is in the mountains of western North Carolina. One day we were anchored off shore about 50 feet, enjoying a swim when this guy entered the scene. I think he was fishing for lunch. It was very thrilling (and a little scary) to be so close to this beautiful wildlife.
