Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Beach Music" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil
Living close to the sea, it is no surprise that I paint a lot of seascapes. The sea and mountains have one thing in common....they never look the same from day to day or even minute to minute. Fascinating and beautiful!
Life gets busy and sometimes I don't visit the beach for months at a time. When I finally get there, it is like visiting an old friend. I always vow to get back more often.

Seascapes and Hawii Five O, Seascape Oil Painting, Ocean Painting
Over the years, I have painted many seascapes, both impressionistic and abstract. It is part of my environment, living on the coast of Florida, and sometimes seascapes showed up almost without my intention.
The paintings always sold very well and I have featured a few of them as giclee prints. Can you image my escitement when two of my prints were sold for set design on the CBS show "Hawaii Five O?
Yes, it's true! I still can not believe it! This was one of my favorite shows in the 70's and I love the currant version too. I will be checking out every episode in the upcoming season, trying to get a quick glimpse of my art. Unfortunately, I have no information about when this will happen.
The good news is, you can own them too. Both prints are available in the sizes of your choice at the links below the images.

Somedays, girls just want to paint abstract! Today is one of those days!
Sometimes, I just want to play with lots of paint.
Texture is always a large part of my work, especially in abstracts.
When I start an abstract, I usually don't have anything specific if mind.......and I struggle. But, then I get to that sweet spot, where it seems to come together, that's when I get excited.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Floral Still Life, Small Flower Painting, Flower Knife Art, "Roadside Bouquet" by Carol Schiff, 8x8x1.5" Oil SOLD
I call this "Roadside Bouquet" because I was walking a country road in the Blue Ridge Mountains last summer, and I collected all these wonderful flowers blooming in ditches and fields. Wild day lily, Queen Ann's Lace, daisy and purple clover abound!
I was in the zone, while painting this, slinging paint and making no effort to be true to the image I was working from. No, my orange day lilies don't look like day lilies and I am fine with that.
It was one of my favorite home made bouquets...here is the picture.
I cannot wait for summer to return!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Abstract Expressionism, "Southwest Sunset", 8x8x1.5" Oil
As you know, I like to dabble with abstract on occasion. I seem to paint in spirts....all landscapes, or all flowers, or all seascapes, etc. This is left over from the last time I had the itch to do an abstract.
Try and try again, I could not accurately photograph the colors in this piece. It is actually a tad brighter than depicted here. Don't you hate when that happens?

Daily Painting, Floral Art, Small Oil Painting, Sunflower Painting, "SunnyFlowers" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil
Don't you just love sun flowers? What could be unlikable about a giant flower, one you have to look up to? Sunny, bright and full of energy with their big brown eyes and bobbing heads....they always make me happy.
I wanted to do a tribute to them, something free and full of movement. I worked with my palette knife and tried to pop the color. I left plenty of texture because I want this painting to be touched.
I enjoy my work in simple black frames. A black frame is always complimentary, it showcases the painting so well.
