PELICAN PORTRAIT, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

I posted a full body view of this guy earlier this month. I had so much fun painting him, that I decided to do another one. Don't you think he is kind of cute?

One of the benefits of not logging on to the computer for a couple of days is that I get to go back through all your posts - what an absolute pleasure!

Yes, I do! Wish I could see him in person. Like the feathers on top of the head : )

Hi again, pelican! Were you able to get real close to him, Carol?

Love the crop on this Carol! I see my favorite "Brilliant Blue" working very well here! PS, I got a jar of black gesso upon your advise....thanks!

Thanks, all for the comments and for visiting my blog on a regular schedule. It is so nice to get input, as you all know very well. The artist's life can be very solitary, so blogs are well suited to us.

Yes, Marie, I got quite close to him, maybe 6 or 8 feet.

Carol, that bird has dignity!

I find your work quite inspiring, and I have given you an award. Please stop by my blog to pick it up.

Great brushstrokes on the top of his head into the background.

Wonderful. The long brush strokes really give the feel of feathers. Just terrific work!
