Sunflower still life, 14x18" Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

I have retuned home from another exciting workshop with Elio Camacho.  I went to work right away, trying to imprint his wisdom on my brain.

I worked hard on this one, trying to retain the bold brushwork and saturated color that makes his technique special.  I think it is a good start for me, but I have lots of area for improvement.

Practice makes perfect.  I am pretty sure he would tell me to make the flower on the table look less like a flower and more like paint.

To be continued.......

OMG - this is gorgeous. What stunning colors. I have to look this guy up. He must have loved having someone of your ability in class. Makes a difference having someone who responds so well.
Looking forward to the next one, Carol.

Very sweet of you to say Julie. His website is www.Colorrelations.com. He is a wonderful painter from the Bay area, but not on the internet to a large extent. Search for his work on Pinterest.

Gorgeous jewel-like color! I love the way the brights emerge from the darkness and grays. That's been my aim lately—to make paint look like paint! Thanks for his website. I'm going to look him up. Beautiful!
