Well, that title is quite a mouthful, but I just couldn't help myself!

After all, it is a very grand red pepper, and I did photograph it while in Rome.

ARTICHOKES OF CAMPO DI FIORI, 16X20, OIL, SOLD

A few years ago I spent some time in Rome in the beautiful and ancient Campo di Fiori piazza.  One morning we came to the square and found it had been turned into a farmer's market over night.  This was a real farmer's market, with real farmers and produce so fresh the leaves had not had time to wilt. My camera and I were very happy and I have painted a few scenes from there.

I inserted Italian words into the painting to help me capture the flavor and excitement of the day.

TUSCAN VILLA, 20X24, OIL

I posted the study for this last week. The actual photo I used was cropped from a photo a friend purchased and framed. She asked me to paint this one for her and I agreed. I guess it was alright to do as it is not for resale. The way I understand copy writes, if it was copyrighted, is that you can reproduce, you just cannot sale. Of course, that does not explain all those paintings of Obama last January. I know all those artists did not personally take a photo of him or paint from life. Does anyone have input on this issue?

This is a study for a 24x30 piece I did a few weeks ago. I am finding I start to get antsy when I concentrate on too many abstract pieces. Did I forget how to paint? Can I still do a "normal painting". Ohh poor me, with all my insecurities! But still, I will probably post more realistic peices the rest of the week!
