HANGING OUT, 5X7, OIL

This guy hangs out on the fishing pier in Cocoa Beach, FL, waiting for an easy meal to steal from an unsuspecting fisherman.  It was really, really, steaming hot that day and I tried to capture that heavy atmospheric feeling in the piece.

Great painting and interesting point of view, looking over his shoulder. I also like the color palette!

Nicely done, Carol. He's quite a big fella.

You have created a beautiful painting from a not so beautiful bird. Love all the colors you used.
I was at the beach last weekend and took a lot of pictures of seagulls. Hope to paint some soon.

I think you've got that feeling of heat spot on! Love the pelican - always love your pelicans! And love the little teapot from a previous post that I missed!

You captured that heavy, steamy hot Florida day. Love the pelican too.

It sure feels hot to me. Even this guy looks as though he is content to move very little. Love the abstract feeling of the shapes created by the dark value of the bird. Nice heavier paint of the white highlight on the head.
