HALF WAY UP THE MOUNTAIN, 11X14, OIL

Last October, we were driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, when I photographed this old barn with an equally old tractor.  It was a beautiful, warm day and the leaves were close to "peak".  The whole scene seemed to speak of days gone bye.

I want to remind you that I am having a painting give-away on my Etsy sites.  You will receive one entry for each item you purchase between 1-1-11 and 3-31-11.  The drawing will be for a 6x8" original oil painting shipped to your home at no cost to you.  Purchases from Carol Schiff Studio or Carol On Edge will  give you an entry in the drawing.  Good luck!

Purchase here
$225.

I love this Carol, the colors are so subtle and beautiful, it almost looks like a pastel in it's tone.

A beautiful thing. Thank you for sharing it - the web becomes increasingly full of beauty. The trees seem alternatingly to overwhelm the barn and to disappear in the colours; a very interesting effect. You are the third painter I've added to my Google Reader thing so far; as a man immersed in words, this makes a refreshing change for me at break time. More, more!

You know Carol, I am really enjoying the personal style you have in all your work, it's unlike anything I've seen. I think I could spot your painting from across a room. The atmosphere you've created in this painting is perfect. It frames the subject (the barn) while not stealing the focus away.

Irrésistible harmonie de couleurs...
Très belle composition. J'aime la manière que vous avez peint la forêt. Vous avez captez à la perfection les tonalités de l'automne.
Un tourbillon de vie.
