Florida Breezy Day Palm Tree Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting

I am loving being back in Florida!  So much inspiration!

Here on the east coast, land of the Florida Highwaymen and AC Backus painters, it's hard to avoid the  scenes that inspired so many pieces of art.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Coastal Wall Decor, Beach House Painting, Florida Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on Canvas Panel

I recently returned to Florida after three years living in the  Asheville area.  Since I am back in Florida my tropical self has come out of hiding.

We are living further south than we did in the past, and it is much more tropical here.  My painting is trying to adjust to the new landscapes.

Enjoy!

Daily Painting "Morning Sail" 6x8 Oil Landscape SOLD

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

The thing about sailing, is that it looks like a lot more fun than it actually is.  I know, I know, that's just my opinion, so please don't get upset!  I enjoyed my days on the boat and I still love to spend an afternoon sailing.

Now, when I see a sail boat heading out on a beautiful sunny day, it seems like a little piece of paradise.
The real thing  almost never beats out imagination.  It's easy to forget the day the sail ripped or the day we sailed home in a raging storm with lightening strikes all around us.

Today, I will imagine....and paint about it.

Happy Birthday to my baby girl, Shelly!

Daily Painting, "Going Coconuts", Landscape, 6x8, Oil

This is another of my daily paintings from my trip to Sanibel Island in May.

My daughter and I were getting our exercise, taking a little walk before it was too hot one morning, trying to dodge all the people on bicycles without getting hit, when I saw this palm loaded with coconuts.

We live in Florida and see lots of palm trees, but our area is further north and coconut palms are not as common there.  There is a lot going on under those palms, all kinds of fibers hanging, old dried up fronds and other miscellaneous materials and of course, the coconuts.  It almost has an abstract quality.

Enjoy!

Landscape Daily Painting,SOLD, Tropical "Umbrella and Chairs II"

Purchase here
SOLD
This is a companion piece to my previous post.  When I look at this type of scene, I am reminded of George Clooney's lines in the opening of "Descendants"He talks about how people on the mainland think that living in Hawaii is all happy days in paradise, just sitting under the palm tree sipping a tropical drink.

People have the same problems there as we have in our everyday lives; death, disaster, financial, etc.  So, you have to make your own happiness, no matter where you are or what your circumstances may be.

Choose to be happy today!

It's that time of year again.  Well, maybe not where you live, but here in Florida the weather is perfect and everyone is looking for a place to sit on the waterfront and have some boiled shrimp and a beer.

Hopefully, someone is singing Jimmy Buffett songs too!

It's nice to pretend your on vacation every weekend.

Daily Painting, "Blazing Palms" 6x6, oil SOLD

I really enjoy the palette knife.  It is soooo much fun pushing around big globs of paint.

I especially have fun painting water with the palette knife.  The textures seem perfect to suggest choppy water.

I caught this scene just moments before the sun started it's journey below the horizon, when it was still bathing it's light on the trees.

Appreciate the day!
