Florida Breezy Day Palm Tree Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting

I am loving being back in Florida!  So much inspiration!

Here on the east coast, land of the Florida Highwaymen and AC Backus painters, it's hard to avoid the  scenes that inspired so many pieces of art.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Sunrise Seascape, Small Daily Painting, Florida Coastal Scene, Daily Painting, 8x10, SOLD

I have been spending so much time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, my trips to the beaches have suffered.  Time to roll out of bed before the sun, grab a cup of coffee and go for a short drive to the sea.

SOLD
Just as I arrive, the sun starts it's slow climb above the horizon.  I have forgotten how peaceful and beautiful it is on the beach at this time of day.  Way down the beach, I can see a fisherman, but other than him we are alone with the birds who are looking for breakfast.

It is so enjoyable here, cool, serene.....I feel refreshed and ready to start my day.

Do you have a happy place too?

This painting was commissioned by a client who saw a similar work on my Etsy site.  The piece she wanted was already sold.  I was happy to do a similar painting in the size she desired.

California Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 11x14x1.5" , "Off PCH" by Carol Schiff Studio

My good friend, and excellent photographer, Ted Fuhrer,  has done it again, supplying me with so many inspiring images to paint from.  On of the many places he has lived was the coastal region of California.

Purchase here

Ted, I hope you think I did justice to your work.

I am always in awe of the western coast of our country.  Living on the east coast is great, and I am so blessed to be here. We have gentle surf, warm water, island music.... But to me, the west coast is larger than life.  So rugged, so big, a constant test to exist there. The boulders are larger than houses, the mountain streams are full of rushing rapids. The pioneer spirit is still alive there.  I cannpt wait to visit again.

Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil "Crashing Wave" by Carol Schiff Studio SOLD

In the past, I painted lots of seascapes, but in recent years, my focus has been on landscapes and flowers.  Today, I went back to my roots....kind of.

I wanted to do a seascape, but something different than the past.  I found one of my images of the surf and cropped it very closely.

I tried to paint with a variety of strokes and get plenty of action into the scene.  I finished with scattering some "foam" .  I enjoyed trying to bring something new to an old subject.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Seascape with Sunset, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Another in my long fascination with oceans and, or, sunrise/sunset paintings.  I am not sure why I am so attracted to them, but I am!

SOLD

I always enjoy playing with thick paint!  I have been accused of being that person who "plays with her food".  Wrong!

For whatever reason, the process and the results please me....and that is my goal.

FLASH SALE TODAY and TUESDAY!

If you read my blog on a regular basis, you know I have been waiting for this day!  Today is the "Flash Sale" at One King's Lane  where they will be showing and selling nine of my paintings made into wooden signs.

They chose a mix of representative and abstract pieces.  Check out the sale and you will see a much better image, with the wood grain showing through as well as the other  pieces they are offering.

So what are flash sales? Simply put, flash sales are a time-limited offer of high discounts.
The offers are ‘abrupt’ and lasts for a tiny window period – a brief time. It is also one of the safest deal takings. In other words you have to avail the opportunity as soon as you are offered the services.
These limited-time deals offer attractive discounts averaging 50% off retail prices.

At the One King's Lane site, find the sale listed as wood wall decor signs.  The sale is on through August 29th.

This is all new to me, but those in the know tell me flash sales are the hottest thing around.

Daily Painting, "Coastal Wildflower" Landscape, 6x8" SOLD

This little painting is not a real place.  I was thinking about the coast of California, where the mountains  collide with the sea.

SOLD
It's a big stretch for me to paint without an image of some type in front of me.  Abstract artists do it all the time.  I spent months just slapping on paint and always ending up with the same muddy, uninteresting, scraper.  Being a slow learner, I repeated the action time and again before the light bulb came on.

Many successful artists work in that manner, but I need more structure.  I must have a goal, a composition in mind, some kind of plan for movement, values, colors.  Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is a great example, but for me, it is a little step forward.

Daily Painting, Oil, "The Beach at Sanibel", 6x8" SOLD

A recent trip to Sanibel brought me plenty of images to paint. Of course, the beach had to be the star.

SOLD
I had not visited the area for many, many years, and I must admit that I forgot how beautiful it is.  The water is aqua and clear, much like the tropical waters of the Caribbean Islands.

I passed this little group of sea oats every morning on the path to the sea.  My favorite activity was to walk the beach as the sun was rising, with only the occasional fisherman or shell hunter and lots of pelicans and gulls  for company.

Daily Painting, Original Oil Landscape, "Beach TIme" SOLD

Now that summer is officially here,  I thought I would post my latest beach painting.

SOLD

A day at the beach is always a good day, and for me, morning is the best time to visit.

I added a little texture to the panel, before painting, and then used my palette knife to describe the sea oats and other beach vegetation.

Hope you enjoy your first summer weekend!

Daily Painting, "Atlantic Seascape", 8x10" SOLD

Who does not love the sea? The beach is a place of healing and joy. The salt cleanses us and the sun embraces us in its warmth. The ocean heals the heart, mind, and soul.

SOLD
I have two loves, the sea and the mountains.  They both have their own beauty and are ever changing.  They both bring peace to my life.

I hope you find your own little slice of heaven this weekend.

Abstract Daily Painting, "Layers", Seascape, 6x8" SOLD

SOLD

Well, maybe it's not exactly abstract, but it's not exactly impressionistic either.  I easily get confused over all the different types of "abstract" works.

Therefore, I will just proclaim that it is painted  freely and freshly, just like the sea.

What would you call this style?

Daily Oil Painting, "Rushing To Shore", 6x8" SOLD

SOLD

I cannot go too long without painting the ocean.  Maybe it is the constant action, or the change in color that attracts me.

Maybe it is the atmosphere on the beach.  It's hard to be stressed  there.  Whatever the reason, this is one of my favorite things to paint.

Abstract Daily Painting,SOLD, Seascape, "Green Wave" 6x8"

Although I have been painting for over 20 years, I find, most of the time, it is a struggle, a case of give and take.  Some days I am pleased with the end results, some days, not so much!

This little painting is one I like.  It seemed to fall off my brush with very few strokes.  It is a very simple scene, and not to everyone's taste, but it made me feel good.

Thank you for viewing my little daily paintings.
