Now that summer is officially here,  I thought I would post my latest beach painting.

A day at the beach is always a good day, and for me, morning is the best time to visit.

I added a little texture to the panel, before painting, and then used my palette knife to describe the sea oats and other beach vegetation.

I think that sunflowers are the personification of summer.  The stunning and huge flowers always remind me of a queen looking down on her subjects.  I can never look at one without smiling.  I have always admired  sunflower paintings (starting with Vincent) but never tried one until today.  Such fun!

KEY WEST PATRIOT, SOLD

We were in Key West for a short vacation. One day we were walking down the street, it was hot and humid, and I saw this cute house. The porch looked so inviting, I could just imagine myself sitting there with a glass of lemonade in one hand and a fan in the other. I immediately developed a southern accent.
