HALF WAY UP THE MOUNTAIN, 11X14, OIL

Last October, we were driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, when I photographed this old barn with an equally old tractor.  It was a beautiful, warm day and the leaves were close to "peak".  The whole scene seemed to speak of days gone bye.

I want to remind you that I am having a painting give-away on my Etsy sites.  You will receive one entry for each item you purchase between 1-1-11 and 3-31-11.  The drawing will be for a 6x8" original oil painting shipped to your home at no cost to you.  Purchases from Carol Schiff Studio or Carol On Edge will  give you an entry in the drawing.  Good luck!

JUST A BUNCH OF CARROTS, 4X12, OIL, SOLD

I just received this back from a gallery, and I must say, I am happy to have it back.  It is one of my personal favorites and I feel like I have welcomed an old friend home.  I am listing it on Etsy, but if it doesn't sell quickly, it will have a home forever in my kitchen.  If you are interested in viewing it at it's best, click on the image to zoom in.

JUPITER LIGHTHOUSE, 12X16, OIL, SOLD

My daughter and her family live in Jupiter, Florida, so we pass this scene often.  The lighthouse is not the only spectacular sight.  The whole area, with  great views of the inter-coastal waterway, always take my breath away.

For those of you who are art collectors, I am having a special give-away on my Etsy sites from January 1 to March 31st.  When you purchase a painting from either Carol Schiff Studio  or Carol On Edge you will be entered in a drawing for a free 6x8 painting.  You will receive an entry for each item you purchase.  You will have a good chance to win because, trust me, I don't sell hundreds of paintings each month.  No need to refer to this post, you will automatically be added to the drawing with each and every item you purchase.  This is just a little way for me to thank those of you who help to support my sites and original art.

THREE PALMS, 10X8, OIL, SOLD

Every once in a while I like to do a palette knife painting.  This one started out with a brush, but as I was working on it it insisted I use a knife.  These three palms are on the shore of the inter-coastal waterway in Florida somewhere around Sebastian.

I found this really beautiful cup and saucer on Etsy.  Mom'sVintageTreasures has a whopping 26 pages of the coolest vintage goodies in town.  This one would work really well for me.  Hmmmmmm, Valentine's Day is just around the corner!

SHADY LADY, 10X8, OIL SOLD

Once upon a time, this lovely lady lived happily on my back porch...until the big, bad, cold, northern winds blew through.  Now she is nothing but a pile of brown dried out petals.  I did my best to revive her with lots of water and sun, but alas, to no avail.  She has gone to hibiscus heaven and is no doubt enjoying herself there with thousands of other plants that came to live at my house for a brief amount of time.

BANANA TREE, 20X16, OIL

Life is slowly getting back to normal.  Not so normal that I am painting and posting on a regular basis yet.  I did get to paint today, but, alas, it is too dark to photograph outside.  In fact, it is totally dark.  So, I am digging out an oldie but goodie, one I painted several years ago but still like.  I hope you enjoy it.

The "Streetview paint off" contest is drawing to an end.  As a post this, I am in second place.  So, if anyone out there likes my little painting, and would like to vote for me, please go to www.streetviewpaintoff.com to place your vote. The voting ends on Jan. 5th.
