RED PEPPER, 5X7, OIL,SOLD

My market had the most beautiful, perfect red bell peppers this week. I picked out a fat yummy (I know it is sweet because it was a great snack) one and ran home to paint. I have great light streaming into my house during the winter months, that really nice strong cool sunlight, so this time of the year, I paint still life. This one was a struggle in the beginning but I really enjoyed the last half. Some days my paint just doesn't seem to have the right consistency . Does anyone else have that problem?

Today I have one painting at 1/2 price for 24 hours on my Etsy site. Read the shop announcement to find the painting.

Purchase here.

What a great rendition of this perfect pepper. You have really captured the highlights and shadow. Great choice for the background color, so the pepper just pops. (sorry for all the p's, they just happened :)
Temperature is supposed to affect paint, but even in my cold house, the consistency stays the same.

I can taste the sweetness and the crispness...a very very nice painting. I like the manner in which you handled the shadow side.

Love the hotly colored pepper. Consistency changes with my paint is attributed mostly to it getting exposed too much and drying it out a bit.

Great job on your pepper. I'm thinking about a salad now...

I work entirely with acrylics and find that humidity and temperature affect them - especially their drying time. This can have a major impact on their consistency. Sorry, I can't speak for oils - it's been too long since last I used them.
