16x20" Palette Knife Daily Painting, "Coastal Collision"

A few years ago, I was in the low country of South Carolina, when I did a photo shoot on the marshes.  I love the look of the marsh when a big storm moves in on it's way to the coast.

Purchase here
595.
When the cool ocean breezes collide with the hot air over the interior of the state,  it produces monster rains.  Usually they are fierce, but short, dropping their rain and moving on quickly.

I like to build up layers of thick paint, with plenty of texture and colors.

When the rains come, you know the long hot summer days are here again.

HILTON HEAD MARSH, ACRYLIC, 5X7 - SOLD

Still working in the abstract direction. It's kind of fun, but, I have a feeling I am going to want to try something that is a little more realistic soon. Maybe I can find a comfort zone between the two as I don't seem to know what direction I want to move in. I am having fun, experimenting and seeing where it will lead. I seem to get bored easily, so I guess this is a good thing.

While catching up on comments made while I was out of town, I discovered I have been awarded the BELLA SINCLAIR AWARD for friendship, sisterhood, caring and sharing, by Laurel Daniel

and Catherine Jeffrey. Laurel is a wonderful plein air painter from Austin who paints sunny landscapes and has the sunny disposition to match. Catherine is the pride of Canada who heads out into the rainy days of Toronto to capture the beautiful reflections of a wet urban scene. I am honored to be given this award by both of these extremely talented women, and have decided to pass it on to the following atrists who encourage and inspire me.

Sheila Tajima, Jennifer Woodburn, Karen Bruson and Carmen Beecher. Thank you ladies, for giving me the warm fuzzies I love and require!

SOUTH CAROLINA MARSH, SOLD

One final marsh painting from my recent vacation. This is a 9x12 oil on panel.

TREES AT SPRING ISLAND

This is another 5x7 painted last week during my vacation. I am new to plein air and really enjoyed the process, except for the bugs, changing views and intense heat and humidity. I am probably not self motivated enough to drag all my painting equipment out and battle the environment alone, so will be encouraging my paint buddies to join me often. $75.00/includes shipping in the U.S.

MARSH AT SPRING ISLAND

Vacation is over and it is time to get back to work. My paint group and I returned home yesterday after 12 days of hard work, painting plein air most every day. This is a scene of marshes from the coast of South Carolina. If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please leave a comment and I will contact you. I have not figured out pay pal yet. Cannot get it to work on this blog although I do have it on my website.
