Recently Sold Paintings, Daily Paintings, Small Oil Paintings

I was looking back through my sales for the end of the year, and thought I would post some original paintings that have sold.

It is easy to spot a trend with sales of prints, but not so much for originals.

Oil Portrait, "LISA" 6x8" Female Head

I have been working on portraits on and off since December and wanted to  get some practice on mixing skin tones.

$80 + 10

Skin tones are so varied and so important.  If the tone is incorrect, the painting is lost.  This one had loads of purples, peach and a little green.

I have a few more heads to show you in future posts.

Daily Painting, "In A World of Her Own", 8x6", Oil SOLD

During a recent trip to New York City with friends, we spent a few hours at a lovely Manhattan rooftop bar.

SOLD
This young woman was sitting across the roof top.  I was taken by her pose and snapped a quick photo.

When I began painting, I quickly realized that the background, a brick wall, was not what I wanted.  I decided to keep it simple and put the full focus on the woman and her skirt.

I suggested the wall with a few quick strokes of terra cotta.

Daily Painting, "Smoky Admiration" 8x6", Oil

This is from an image that I have had in my files for many years.

I was always drawn to this image because of the light striking the hats of this Mennonite couple  The fact that she is bare-footed only added to the quirkiness of the scene.

The couple are viewing the highest point at Smoky Mountain National Park.  I have been there many times and know that it is a long hike up a steep concrete walkway.  Where are her shoes!!!

DAILY PAINTING, CHILD, FIGURATIVE, 'JUST LIKE DADDY' 6X8"

Purchase here
100
Do you remember when your son or grandson was this age?  Everything seemed so exciting with adventure around every corner.

Just taking a ride with his sippy cup.  It seems like yesterday, but this little guy is gone and in his place stands a young man.  Memories are made of this.
