THE FREEDOM TO BE YOURSELF, 6X8, OIL, SOLD
You have the freedom to be yourself,
your true self,
here and now -
and nothing can stand in your way!
Jonathan Livingston Seagull
from a very popular book of the 70's
My second choice for a title is "He said, she said". Also during the 70's one of the top women's magazines of the day, I think it was McCalls or maybe Redbook, had a monthly article called "Can this marrriage be saved?"
They would write the wife's story under "she said" and the husband's version under "he said" and then a counselor of some kind would write an analysis of what was wrong in the marriage and what the couple needed to do to improve the situation. So, when I looked at this painting, to me it looks like "he" is saying and maybe "she" is not buying it.
Which title do you like the best? Hmmmmm, I think I just told you how old I am!

THE MOON AND STARS, 6X6, OIL SOLD
A few weeks ago, my friend Phillis, invited our painting group to do some plein air at her lovely home. She is lucky enough to live on the water . We gathered in her back yard to paint the boats going bye but, I was more interested in the her little patio container garden.
I took some photos and later created this little piece of her amazing blue ceramic pots and garden balls.
Thank you Phillis, for being so generous with your home.

THE QUEEN, 5X7, OIL SOLD
They are equally beautiful, but on the day I had my camera along, only one was willing to pose. I don't know what her/his name is, but, I think she/he looks very "queenly" in her/his pose, thus the name.
Bon jour!

HOUSE ON THE POINT, 6X8, OIL
Another in my mini-series of Florida houses on the water. This house is on a point of land that juts out into the inter-coastal waterway. This is a view from a nearby public park. I love to visit the park early in the morning. It is so very peaceful.

The water is still, herons are fishing for breakfast, there may be a fisherman with his cast net or a small boat motoring out into the inter-coastal. Later in the day it becomes a busy place but at seven in the morning, with a cup of coffee in my hand, it's heaven to me.

A ROSE IS A ROSE..., 4X8, OIL SOLD
This is more than a daily painting..it's a multi-day painting. I have worked off and on for three days on this little piece, trying to make it look presentable and maybe even "fresh".
I started off trying to do one of Qiang-huang's three-stroke roses. After all, it looks very easy when he does it. Needless to say, didn't work. Didn't work the first time, or the second time, or even the third time. Scrape, scrape, scrape!! So this is what I ended up with..not a Qiang masterpiece, but maybe better than I was expecting.

BEING GREEN, 6X8, OIL
I am back in my old rut doing still life again, and it feels good. I must say my little "vacation" from them lasted longer than usual this time. I even got creative with a few knife paintings. But sooner or later, I always return to my comfort zone.
