Still Life Oil Painting Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting "Le Belle Poivron Rouge", 6x8"

I find I have missed painting still life, so it has been fun catching up on it over the last week.

If I could just stop sleeping, I would have an additional 5 or 6 hours a day to paint.

Maybe then I would have enough time to paint both my still life and my landscapes.....but what about the abstract/mixed media  I also want to try?  Maybe I better work on growing another set of arms instead!

Life is hard when you're retired!!

Vegetable Still Life, Daily Oil Painting, "Ravanello Danza" SOLD

The past few months, I have been painting landscape after landscape.  I noticed that most of my favorite still life works have found new homes.

So this week, I have been painting new ones.  It has been a nice change of pace for me.

These radishes seemed to be involved in a complicated tango, so I named this "Ravanello Danza" which is Italian for Radish Dance.  It sounds much better in Italian.

DANCING ON MY WINDOW SILL, 6X8, OIL, SOLD

You never know where the perfect still life will be discovered. I tossed these tomatoes on my window sill and several hours later the sun made a perfect still life out of them.  Backlighting is a beautiful thing!

BEING GREEN, 6X8, OIL

I am back in my old rut doing still life again, and it feels good.  I must say my little "vacation" from them lasted longer than usual this time.  I even got creative with a few knife paintings.  But sooner or later, I always return to my comfort zone.

$90

HALF ARTICHOKE, 5X7, OIL, SOLD

This is one I painted several months ago and for some reason I never got around to posting it.  I must have had it in my stack of paintings to post  at least a half dozen times.  Maybe, deep down,  I am unhappy with it, or maybe I like it too much to sell?  The truth is, I think I was a little to unorganized.

Last week we were in North Carolina vacationing with my granddaughter Courtney and her friend Alison.  There is nothing like spending a week with two teen-age girls to help you organize your life.
