Daily Oil Painting, Beau Gateau et les Petits, 6x8 SOLD

It translates as "Beautiful Small Cake".  I had lots of fun with this one,  I positioned the cake on a favorite pottery plate and got the most lovely aquas and lavenders.

Then I painted in creamy oils using both brush and palette knife.  Yummy!

Since we are talking food here, I though I would show you some strawberries I covered in chocolate for a recent party.

And how about these fabulous rolls made with feta and jack cheeses and spinach!  Sometimes cooking can be as much fun as painting.  Thanks for the food pictures, Kathy.

I don't really understand what it is about water that makes our blood pressure drop, why it is so appealing  to most everyone.

During the hot, steamy summer months, I often wonder why we live in Florida, but this time of the year, there is no doubt.

Paint me a picture of the landscape.

Sometimes I get in an abstract frame of mind.  I guess this would be one of those times.   I find it relaxing and exciting at the same time to play with texture along with color.

Change is a good thing.

Still trying to paint flowers. This one was more difficult for me. I just could not achieve the vibrant hues I wanted!

TULIPS, 6x8, OIL ON PANEL

I love flowers, but I rarely paint them. It just takes too much preparation for me. Go to the florist and buy, keep them alive. Usually I paint something that has a longer shelf life. My weekly paint group, Pieces of Eight, tried these out last Monday. I ended up with a wiping my attempt but came home with several photos. So, this is my studio try, off the computer monitor, my new best friend. I can see that I need to tone down all that pink which completely overwhelms the poor tulip!

CHRISTMAS CACTUS, SOLD

The other day, while trying to organize my studio, I came across an old painting that I had buried behind everything in the closet. It was a still life of a beautiful Christmas catcus that I attemped many years ago. Although the painting was a failure, I still have the photo, which was one of my favorites, and I decided to give it another try. Not wanting to do a large, detailed canvas until the holidays are over, I decided to try just a detail of the original composition on a 5x7 panel. So, here is my offering for today, not sure I like it any better than the original, but it does speak to the season.
